The spacing between the first-order and second-order bright fringes is 3 cm. Hence, this is the required solution.

What is double slit experiment?

The double-slit experiment serves as a proof in current physics that both light and matter may exhibit properties of classically defined waves and particles. It also illustrates the inherently probabilistic nature of quantum mechanical events. Thomas Young carried out the first experiment of this kind employing light in 1802, illustrating how light behaves like a wave. It was formerly believed that light was made up of either waves or particles. About a century later, with the advent of modern physics, it was discovered that light may in fact exhibit behaviour like that of both waves and particles. The identical behaviour of electrons was first shown by Davisson and Germer in 1927, and it was later extended to atoms and molecules.

The separation between the slits, d = 0.05mm = 5×10⁻⁵ m

The distance from the slits to a screen, D = 2.5 m

Let x is the spacing between the first-order and second-order bright fringes when coherent light of wavelength 600 nm illuminates the slits,

λ = 600nm = 6× 10⁻⁷ m

We know that the bright fringe is given by :

y = nλD/d

So, the spacing between the first-order and second-order bright fringes is :

x = 2λD/d - λD/d

x =  λD/d

x = 6 × 10⁻⁷ × 2.5/5 × 10⁻⁵

x = 0.03 m

or

x = 3 cm

So, the spacing between the first-order and second-order bright fringes is 3 cm. Hence, this is the required solution.

lana66690 [7]

Answer:

d= 64.7 km

\theta = 40.9^{o}

displacement vector=r_xi + r_yj =  48.9i + 42.4j

Explanation:

total distance = 40 + 30 = 70 km

during 1st flight

r_1 x = 40*cos60

r_1 x = 20 km

r_1 y = 40*sin60

r_1 y = 34.64 km

during 2nd flight

r_2 x = 30*cos15

r_2 x = 28.9 km

r_2 y = 30*sin15

r_2 y = 7.76 km

the two component of r are:

r_x = r_1x + r_2x = 20 + 28.9 = 48.9 km

r_y = r_1y + r_2y = 34.64 + 7.76 = 42.4 km

Geographical Direction \theta = tan^{-1}\frac{r_y}{r_x} [tex]\theta = 40.9^{o}

Displacement d= \sqrt{r_x^2 + r_y^2}

                     d = \sqrt{48.9^2+42.4^2} = 64.7 km

d= 64.7 km

displacement vector=r_xi + r_yj =  48.9i + 42.4j

A volcano erupted on an island. The entire plant community was destroyed and the island was covered with grey ash. Slowly, liche
Dmitriy789 [7]

Answer:

There are several kinds of plants who grow and thrive near volcanic locations. For example coffee, grape vines, moss and the rare Hawaiian argyroxiphium, or "silversword." These plants grow and survive using the nutrients from the ashes of the volcanic eruptions along with cooled lava.

Mosses and Lichens form a protective layer over the land which helps it to retain water inside it, rather than drying out which is the case in volcanic sites. Therefore, the retained water helps the land to form and become appropriate for other plants to grow as well.

A mass m is placed at the rim of a frictionless
olchik [2.2K]

Answer:

Explanation:

at collision, m has a velocity of √2gR

The center of mass of the system has a velocity of

m(√2gR) + 3m(0) = (m + 3m)v

v = ¼√2gR

The stationary mass (3m) will depart at twice the system center of mass velocity

v(3m) = ½√2gR   ANSWER B

The relative velocity before the collision will be the negative of the relative velocity after the collision.

v(m) = ½√2gR - √2gR = -½√2gh ANSWER A

m will rise to a height of v²/2g = (-½√2gR)²/2g = 0.25R

Contact metamorphism occurs over a localized area when magma moves into the crust. true or false
GenaCL600 [577]

Answer:

TRUE

Explanation:

When the hot and less dense magma rises up towards the surface, the country rocks are heated due to the increasing temperature of the magma. This results in the formation of an aureole that surrounds the intruded magma body. This aureole is commonly known as the metamorphic aureole and contact metamorphism occurs in this area. This type of process occurs at a comparatively smaller area, and where there is a high temperature and low-pressure condition. For example, Hornfels and Marble.

Thus, the above-given statement is True.
