Fission: -

Pros:

- "It does not contribute to the air pollutants in the environment."

- "It does not need costly energy fuels."

- "It is capable of providing energy for 2 to 3 years."

- "It does not make global warming worse."

- "It produces a nuclear reaction that is important."

- "It helps with the field of astronomy."

Cons:

- "It can harm the environment in a way that it disposes waste."

- "It poses a risk to public health."

- "It can cause deadly and costly accidents."

- "It has the potential to open the door for terrorists to create powerful weapons."

Fusion Reactions: -

Pros:

- "Clean energy ."

- "Virtually limitless fuel available ."

- "No chain reaction. Easier to control or stop than fission ."

- "Nuclear fission is either a nuclear reaction or a radioactive decay process in which the nucleus of an atom splits into smaller parts (lighter nuclei) ."

- "Little or no nuclear waste. Core remains radioactive for only 100 years. Possibly radioactive structural elements ."

- "Very low fuel cost."

Cons:

- "Unproven (it will take another years of research to explore it on commercial scale) ."

- "Commercial power plants will be very expensive to build ."

- "Requires extremely high temperatures .

If cold fusion could be achieved, it would be much easier to implement."

A 60 kg student is standing in the train station next to her 10 kg suitcase when her train is called. (A) Estimate how much work
ASHA 777 [7]

Answer

given,

mass of student = 60 Kg

mass of suitcase = 10 Kg

a) Work done by picking of Suitcase is equal to zero

b) acceleration = 0.1 m/s²

   distance = 2 m

Using second law conservation

F = m a

F = 10 x 0.1 = 1 N

c) Work done

  W = F x s

  W = 1 x 2 = 2 J

d) When the are moving with constant speed acceleration is equal to zero

F = m a

F = 10 x 0 = 0 N

W = F x s = 0 x s = 0 J

e) work done = change in kinetic energy

        K.E = 2 J

A wave traveling in water has a frequency of 250 Hz and a wavelength of 6.0 m. What is the speed of the wave
Aleks04 [339]
Speed of wave = frequency x wavelength
                        =     250 x 6 = 1500 m/s.

Which type of energy is water held back by a dam?
stepladder [879]

Answer:    hydroelectric dams

Explanation: Enormous energy is stored in water held back by hydroelectric dams. The energy is transformed into (a form of kinetic energy) as it falls across the dam. The falling water strikes the blades of a turbine and makes them spin, and the then turns the shaft of a generator.
