Answer : The correct option is, (C) 6

Explanation :

Oxidation-reduction reaction : It is a reaction in which oxidation and reduction reaction occur simultaneously.

Oxidation reaction : It is the reaction in which a substance looses its electrons. In this oxidation state increases.

Reduction reaction : It is the reaction in which a substance gains electrons. In this oxidation state decreases.

The given unbalanced chemical reaction is,

Fe(s)+I^-(aq)\rightarrow I_2(s)+Fe^{3+}(aq)

Half reactions of oxidation and reduction are :

Oxidation : Fe(s)\rightarrow Fe^{3+}+3e^-        ......(1)

Reduction : 2I^-(aq)+2e^-\rightarrow I_2         .......(2)

In order to balance the electrons, we multiply equation 1 by 2 and equation 2 by 3, we get:

Oxidation : 2Fe(s)\rightarrow 2Fe^{3+}+6e^-        ......(1)

Reduction : 6I^-(aq)+6e^-\rightarrow 3I_2         .......(2)

The overall balanced chemical reaction will be:

2Fe(s)+6I^-(aq)\rightarrow 3I_2(s)+2Fe^{3+}(aq)

From this reaction we conclude that the electrons are getting transferred from iron to iodine and the number of electrons transferred are 6 electrons.

Hence, the correct option is, (C) 6

A 32 L samples of xenon gas at 10°C is expanded to 35 L. Calculate the final temperature.
morpeh [17]

Answer:

              Final Temperature = 36.54 ⁰C

Explanation:

Lets suppose the gas is acting ideally, then according to Charle's Law, "<em>The volume of a fixed mass of gas at constant pressure is directly proportional to the absolute temperature</em>". Mathematically for initial and final states the relation is as follow,

                                                V₁ / T₁  =  V₂ / T₂

Data Given;

                  V₁  =  32 L

                  T₁  =  10 °C = 283.15 K             ∴ K = °C + 273.15

                  V₂  =  35 L

                  T₂  =  ??

Solving equation for T₂,

                         T₂  =  V₂ × T₁  / V₁

Putting values,

                         T₂  =  (35 L × 283.15 K) ÷ 32 L

                         T₂  =  309.69 K     ∴ ( 36.54 °C )

Result:

           As the volume is increased from 32 L to 35 L, therefore, the temperature must have increased from 10 °C to 36.54 °C.

If I initially have a gas at a pressure of 12 atm, a volume of 23 liters, and a temperature of 200 K and then I raise the pressu
mixas84 [53]

Answer:

The answer to your question is V2 = 29.6 l

Explanation:

Data

Pressure 1 = P1 = 12 atm

Volume 1 = V1 = 23 l

Temperature 1 = T1 = 200 °K

Pressure 2 = 14 atm

Volume 2 = V2 = =

Temperature 2 = T2 = 300°K

Process

1.- To solve this problem use the Combine gas law.

             P1V1/T1 = P2V2/T2

-Solve for V2

             V2 = P1V1T2 / T1P2

2.- Substitution

             V2 = (12)(23)(300) / (200)(14)

3.- Simplification

             V2 = 82800 / 2800

4.- Result

            V2 = 29.6 l
