How many grams of aluminum metal can be produced when 50.0 grams of aluminum chloride decompose? 2AlCl3 → 2Al + 3Cl2

Chemistry

Answer:

10.1 g of Al are formed

Explanation:

The reaction is:

2AlCl3 --> 2Al + 3Cl2

So 2 moles of aluminun chloride decompose into 2 moles of Al and 3 moles of chlorine.

Ratio is 2:2.

Let's convert the mass of salt into moles (mass / molar mass)

50 g / 133.34 g/mol = 0.374 moles.

As the ratio is 2: 2, if I have 0.374 moles of salt, I would produce the same amount of Al, just 0.374.

Let's convert the moles to mass

(Mol . molar mass)

0.374 mol . 26.98 g / mol = 10.1 g of Al are formed

How does velocity and mass affect momentum?
ollegr [7]

Velocity and mass are directly proportional to the quantity of momentum by:

p = mv. Therefore, and increase in either velocity or mass will lead to an increase in momentum and vice versa. Momentum during a reaction is always conserved, meaning that the mass and initial velocity before a reaction will always be equal to the change in mass and velocity produced after the reaction. Kinetic energy after a reaction, however, is not always conserved. For example if a fast moving vehicle collided with a stationary vehicle, and moved together, the overall kinetic energy would be after the reaction, as a heaver mass would be moved by the same velocity causing a decrease in kinetic energy.

I don't know if this is exactly what you are looking for, but in physics this is how it is understood.

Calculate the concentration of formate in a 100mm solution of formic acid at ph 4.15. The pka for formic acid is 3.75
MissTica

The molarity of formic acid is 100 mM or 100\times 10^{-3}M. The dissociation reaction of formic acid is as follows:

HCOOH\leftrightharpoons HCOO^{-}+H^{+}

The expression for dissociation constant of the reaction will be:

K_{a}=\frac{[HCOO^{-}][H^{+}]}{[HCOOH]}

Rearranging,

[HCOO^{-}]=\frac{K_{a}[HCOOH]}{[H^{+}]}

Here, pH of solution is 4.15 thus, concentration of hydrogen ion will be:

[H^{+}]=10^{-pH}=10^{-4.15}=7.08\times 10^{-5}M

Similarly, pK_{a}=3.75 thus,

[K_{a}=10^{-pK_{a}}=10^{-3.75}=1.78\times 10^{-4}M

Putting the values,

[HCOO^{-}]=\frac{(1.78\times 10^{-4}M)(100\times 10^{-3}M)}{(7.08\times 10^{-5}M}=0.2511 M

Therefore, the concentration of formate will be 0.2511 M.

Which of the following can an isosceles triangle not be? an acute triangle a scalene triangle an equilateral triangle a right tr
zimovet [89]

Answer;

A scalene

Explanation;

A triangle is a geometric figure with three sides and three angles that always add up to 180 degrees.

Based on properties triangles can be classified as equilateral, scalene, isosceles and right triangles.

Equilateral triangles has all the three sides and the angles equal, an isosceles triangle has two of its sides equal, and two angles that are known as the base angles equal. A scalene triangle has all the three angles and sides different from each other. A right triangle is a triangle in which one of the angle is right angle or is 90 degrees.

An isosceles triangle may be a right triangle, equilateral triangle, and also may be an acute triangle, however an isosceles triangle can never be a scalene triangle
