Answer: The pH is 1.69897 and the solution is acid.

Explanation:

The complete neutralization reaction will be:

HCl+NaOH → KCl + H2O

In consequence, if we add 0.03 mol of HCl and 0.01 mol of NaOH, we are going to have an excess of 0.02 mol of HCl that is not going to react. Further, the resulting solution will have an acidic character.

On the other hand, for obtaining the pH, we use the formula:

pH=-log[H+]

Where [H+] is expressed in molar concentration.

As HCl is a strong acid, when it is dissolved the H+ ions are completely dissociated and the concentration of HCl in excess is the same of H+ ions.

Before using the formula, we have to calculate the molar concentration of H+ ions, dividing 0.02 mol (HCl in excess) between 1 L; so the concentration of H+ ions is 0.02 M.

Finally, the pH will be:

pH=-log[0.02]=1.69897

Why the mixture of bromine and ethane is discoloured when left in the sun
DENIUS [597]

Answer:

In the presence of UV light, ethane will react with bromine in a substitution reaction. UV light is the condition under which the reaction will occur so it is written above the arrow in the chemical equation. As the reaction proceeds, the intensity of the re-brown colour of the bromine water decreases.

List of charge of elements that do not form compound easily
adelina 88 [10]

Answer:

The highlighted words in the explanation.

Explanation:

A clue comes by considering the noble gas elements, the rightmost column of the periodic table. These elements—helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon—do not form compounds very easily, which suggests that they are especially stable as lone atoms. What else do the noble gas elements have in common?

Write one effect of gravitational force of the sun and the moon on the earth.
Darya [45]

Answer:

High and low tides are caused by the moon. The moon's gravitational pull generates something called the tidal force. The tidal force causes Earth—and its water—to bulge out on the side closest to the moon and the side farthest from the moon.

Given the following balanced reaction between nitrogen gas and oxygen gas to produce nitrous oxide gas, how many moles of nitrou
Artyom0805 [142]
The balance chemical equation is
2N2 + O2 ---> 2N2O.

We can solve how many moles of nitrous oxide gas from 1.65 moles of nitrogen gas. The balance equation is a critical information to answer this problem since it gives the ratio of nitrous oxide gas produced to the nitrogen used. 2 moles of nitrous oxide gas is produced from 2 moles of nitrogen gas is used. Hence there is 3.30 moles of nitrous oxide gas produced.

Hope This Helps!
