Answer:

Keiko should mix 20 mL 1% solution and 80 mL 6% solution for to make 100 mL 5% solution

Explanation:

There are 2 unknown values X= mL 6% solution and Y=1% solution. So, we need 2 equations:

1. Equation acid concentration. X mL 6% + Y mL 1% = 100 mL 5%

2. Equation solvent concentration X mL 94% + Y mL 99% = 100 mL 95%

When clearing X and Y :

(X mL 6%    +   Y mL 1%      =    100 mL 5%) (-15,7)

X mL 94%  +   Y mL 99%   =   100 mL 95%

_______________________________

-                      Y  0.83       =   16.5

                        Y                =   19.9 mL 1% solution

Replace Y in anyone equation and X = 80 mL 6% solution

I hope to see been helpful

Further explanation

The concentration of a substance can be expressed in several quantities such as moles, percent (%) weight / volume,), molarity, molality, parts per million (ppm) or mole fraction. Concentration shows the amount of solute in a unit of the amount of solvent.

Molarity (M)

Molarity shows the number of moles of solute in every 1 liter of solution.

\large{\boxed {\bold {M ~ = ~ \frac {n} {V}}}

Where

M = Molarity

n = Number of moles of solute

V = volume of the solution

For molarity a mixture can be formulated :

M_{mix}=\frac{total\:mole}{total\:volume}

M_{mix}=\frac{M1.V1+M2.V2}{V1+V2}

Keiko needs 100 mL of a 5% acid solution

The available solutions are 1% and 6%

We can make a mathematical equation from the two statements above

  • 1. V1 + V2 = 100

The total volume of the 1% and 6% solutions is 100 ml

  • 2. The mixture concentration is 5%

5% = 1% .V1 + 6% .V2 /( V1 + V2 )

5% = 1% .V1 + 6% .V2 / 100

5 = 1% .V1 + 6% .V2 or

500 = V1 + 6V2

Equations 1 and 2 we do elimination and substitution

500 = V1 + 6V2

100  = V1 + V2

----------------------- -

400 =  5V2

V2 = 80 ml

V1 = 20 ml

Which of the follow statements is true?
goldfiish [28.3K]

Answer:

The true statement is a. Reductants reduce oxidants and become oxidized.

Explanation:

The principle characteristic of reductant is to donate electron and that donated electron is accepted by an oxidant.

      As a result reductant become oxidized by reducing the oxidant which itself get reduced by accepting the electron from the reductant.

The formula of an iodate of lanthanum is la(io3)3. what is the formula of the sulfate of lanthanum with the same oxidation numbe
sammy [17]

Iodate has a charge of -1, this means its chemical symbol must be IO3(-1) while Lanthanum is La(+3). Therefore making the compound La(IO3)3.

However sulfate has a chemical symbol of SO4(-2), it has charge of -2, therefore the formula for lanthanum sulfate is:

La2(SO4)3

Argon, which comprises almost 1% of the atmosphere, is approximately 27 times more abundant than CO 2, but does not contribute t
kotegsom [21]

Answer:

The gas argon does not reach a state of vibrational excitation when infrared radiation strikes this gas.

Explanation:

The dry atmosphere is composed almost entirely of nitrogen (in a volumetric mixing ratio of 78.1%) and oxygen (20.9%), plus a series of oligogases such as argon (0.93%), helium and gases of greenhouse effect such as carbon dioxide (0.035%) and ozone. In addition, the atmosphere contains water vapor in very variable amounts (about 1%) and aerosols.

Greenhouse gases or greenhouse gases are the gaseous components of the atmosphere, both natural and anthropogenic, that absorb and emit radiation at certain wavelengths of the infrared radiation spectrum emitted by the Earth's surface, the atmosphere and clouds . In the Earth's atmosphere, the main greenhouse gases (GHG) are water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrous oxide (N2O), methane (CH4) and ozone (O3 ). There is also in the atmosphere a series of greenhouse gases (GHG) created entirely by humans, such as halocarbons (compounds containing chlorine, bromine or fluorine and carbon, these compounds can act as potent greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and they are also one of the causes of the depletion of the ozone layer in the atmosphere) regulated by the Montreal Protocol. In addition to CO2, N2O and CH4, the Kyoto Protocol sets standards regarding sulfur hexafluoride (SF6), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and perfluorocarbons (PFCs).

The difference between argon and greenhouse gases such as CO2 is that the individual atoms in the argon do not have free bonds and therefore do not vibrate. As a consequence, it does not reach a state of vibrational excitation when infrared radiation strikes this gas.

Selenium (Se) has 30 protons and 20 neutrons in each atom, therefore its atomic
allochka39001 [22]

Answer:

30, 50

Explanation:

Hello,

In this since an element's atomic number is equal to the number of protons in its atom, we can infer that selenium's atomic number is 30. Moreover, due to the fact the the neutrons are equal to the atomic mass minus the atomic number or the number of protons, by knowing the number of neutrons we compute the atomic as follows:

neutrons=mass-protons\\\\mass=neutrons+protons\\\\mass=30+20\\\\mass=50a.m.u

Thus, answer is 30, 50.

Best regards.
