Answer:

The acceleration of the car, a = -3.75 m/s²

Explanation:

Given data,

The initial velocity of the airplane, u = 75 m/s

The final velocity of the plane, v = 0 m/s

The time period of motion, t = 20 s

Using the I equations of motion

                    v = u + at

                     a = (v - u) / t

                        = (0 - 75) / 20

                        = -3.75 m/s²

The negative sign indicates that the plane is decelerating

Hence, the acceleration of the car, a = -3.75 m/s²

What did physicist James Joule's famous paddle wheel experiment demonstrate?
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

<u>Answer </u>

A. that the initial gravitational potential energy of the masses transformed into kinetic energy of the paddles and then to thermal energy in the water

<u>Explanation</u>

James Joule allowed some water to fall from a height of 1 foot. the water would turn a paddle wheel at the bottom causing a temperature of water to raise.

The height form which the water fell, mass and the temperature of water was measured and used to calculate mechanical equivalent of heat.

From the choices given the best answer is A. that the initial gravitational potential energy of the masses transformed into kinetic energy of the paddles and then to thermal energy in the water.

A piece of tape is pulled from a spool and lowered toward a 120-mg scrap of paper. Only when the tape comes within 8.0 mm is the
Anton [14]

Answer:

1.176\times 10^{-3} N

Upward

Explanation:

We are given that

Mass of scarp paper,m=120 mg=120\times 10^{-6}kg

1mg=10^{-6} mkg

Distance,d =8 mm=8\times 10^{-3} m

Magnitude of electric force =F_E= w=mg

Where g=9.8 m/s^2

Substitute the values

F_E=120\times 10^{-6}\times 9.8

F_E=1.176\times 10^{-3} N

Gravitational force act in  downward direction.

The electric force acts in opposite direction and magnitude of electric force is equal to gravitational force.

Hence, the direction of electric force is upward.

If the magnitude of the electric field in air exceeds roughly 3 ✕ 106 n/c, the air breaks down and a spark forms. for a two-di
Vlad1618 [11]

Answer: 39.8 μC

Explanation:

The magnitude of the electric field generated by a capacitor is given by:

E = \frac{V}{d}

d is the distance between the plates.

For a capacitor, charge Q = CV where C is the capacitance and V is the voltage.

C =\frac{\epsilon_o A }{d}

where A is the area of the plate and ε₀ is the absolute permittivity.

substituting, we get

E = \frac{Q}{\epsilon_o A}

It is given that the magnitude of the electric field that can exist in the capacitor before air breaks down is, E = 3 × 10⁶ N/C.

radius of the plates of the capacitor, r = 69 cm = 0.69 m

Area of the plates, A = πr² = 1.5 m²

Thus, the maximum charge that can be placed on disks without a spark is:

Q = E×ε₀×A

⇒ Q = 3 × 10⁶ N/C × 8.85 × 10⁻¹² F/m × 1.5 m² = 39.8 × 10⁻⁶ C = 39.8 μC.
