Answer:

t = 2.77 s

Explanation:

The ball in its movement describes a curved line called a semiparabola, therefore two coordinates are required to fix the position at each instant of time, since the movement is performed in the X-Y plane:

Equation of movement of the ball in the X axis

X = v₀x*t   Equation  (1)

Equation of movement of the ball in the Y axis

Y = y₀+ v₀y*t -½ g*t² Equation  (2)

Where

X : horizontal position in meters (m)

Y : vertical  position in meters (m)

y₀ : initial vertical  position in meters (m)

v₀x :  X-initial speed in m/s

v₀y :  Y-initial speed in m/s

g: acceleration due to gravity in m/s²

t : time to position (X,Y)

Data

y₀ = 37.5 m

v₀y = 0

g = 9.8 m/s²

Problem development

The time the ball remains in the air is the same as the ball takes to touch the floor, that is, Y = 0

We apply the Equation (2):

Y = y₀+ (v₀y)*t - (½) g*t²

0 =  37.5 +(0)*t- (1/2)*(g)*t²

0 =  37.5 - (1/2)*(9.8)*t²

(1/2)*(9.8)*t²  = 37.5

t² = (2)(37.5)/(9.8)

t= \sqrt{\frac{2*37.5}{9.8} }

t = 2.77 s

Mrs. Paul and Dr. Mykannen ride a tandem bike on the beach. They ride along the beach for about 455 meters. Their final velocity
algol [13]

Answer:

Time = 80.91 seconds

Explanation:

Given the following data;

Velocity = 5.50 m/s.

Distance = 445 meters

To find the time;

Velocity can be defined as the rate of change in displacement (distance) with time. Velocity is a vector quantity and as such it has both magnitude and direction.

Mathematically, velocity is given by the equation;

Velocity = \frac{distance}{time}

Substituting into the formula, we have;

5.5 = 445/time

Time = 445/5.5

Time = 80.91 seconds

Two cars leave towns 680 kilometers apart at the same time and travel toward each other. one car's rate is 10 kilometers per hou
Evgen [1.6K]

D = distance between the cars at the start of time = 680 km

v₁ = speed of one car

v₂ = speed of other car = v₁ - 10

t = time taken to meet = 4 h

distance traveled by one car in time "t" + distance traveled by other car in time "t" = D

v₁ t + v₂ t = D

(v₁ + v₂) t = D

inserting the values

(v₁ + v₁ - 10) (4) = 680

v₁ = 90 km/h

rate of slower car is given as

v₂ = v₁ - 10

v₂ = 90 - 10 = 80 km/h

Answer:

5. dispersion

6. 49.8°

Explanation:

5. Dispersion is the name given to the phenomenon of light of different wavelengths being bent differently. A rainbow is the result of light from a point source (the sun) being spread out by wavelength (color), a nice example of dispersion.

___

6. n = 1.31 is the ratio of the sine of the angle of refraction to the sine of the angle of incidence (for light passing to a medium of n = 1). When the angle of refraction is 90°, the angle of incidence is the "critical angle." So, ...

sin(90°)/sin(critical) = 1.31

critical angle = arcsin(1/1.31) ≈ 49.8°
