Answer: GROUP  2 is the only group to include only metals. Group one includes the most metalic metals but hydrogen is usually put into group one and obviously hydrogen is not a metal. Group 2 includes Br, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba,Ra.

a closed flask of air (0.250 L) contains 5.00 "puffs" of particles. The pressure probe on the flask reads 93 kPa. A student uses
Sergio039 [100]

Answer: New pressure inside the flask would be 148.8 kPa.

Explanation: The combined gas law equation is given by:

PV=nRT

As the flask is a closed flask, so the volume remains constant. Temperature is constant also.

So, the relation between pressure and number of moles becomes

P=n\\or\\\frac{P}{n}=constant

\frac{P_1}{n_1}=\frac{P_2}{n_2}

  • Initial conditions:

P_1=93kPa\\n_1=5\text{ puffs}

  • Final conditions: When additional 3 puffs of air is added

P_2=?kPa\\n_2=8\text{ puffs}

Putting the values, in above equation, we get

\frac{93}{5}=\frac{P_2}{8}\\P_2=148.8kPa

What is the ratio of lactic acid (Ka = 1.37x^10-4) to lactate in a solution with pH =4.29
hram777 [196]

Henderson–Hasselbalch equation is given as,

                                         pH  =  pKa  +  log [A⁻] / [HA]   -------- (1)

Solution:

Convert Ka into pKa,

                                         pKa  =  -log Ka

                                         pKa  =  -log 1.37 × 10⁻⁴

                                         pKa  =  3.863

Putting value of pKa and pH in eq.1,

                                         4.29  =  3.863 + log [lactate] / [lactic acid]

Or,

                   log [lactate] / [lactic acid]  =  4.29 - 3.863

                   log [lactate] / [lactic acid]  =  0.427

Taking Anti log,

                             [lactate] / [lactic acid]  =  2.673

Result:

           2.673 M  lactate salt when mixed with 1 M Lactic acid produces a buffer of pH = 4.29.

If the value for ΔS is postive, and the value for ΔH is negative, thr reaction will be
dmitriy555 [2]

It follows that the reaction is spontaneous at high temperatures Option A.

<h3>What is ΔS ?</h3>

The term ΔS is referred to as the change in the entropy of the system. Now recall that entropy is defined as the degree of disorderliness in a system. If a system is highly disorderly then it means that it has a high entropy. Also, ΔH has to do with the heat change that accompanies a reaction.

We know that both the entropy and the heat change can both either be positive or negative. Now we know that the equation ΔG = ΔH - TΔS can be used to ascertain whether or not a reaction will be spontaneous. If the result is negative, then the reaction will be spontaneous.

As such, when then it follows that the reaction is spontaneous at high temperatures Option A.
