A 26.2-kg dog is running northward at 3.21 m/s, while a 5.30-kg cat is running eastward at 2.64 m/s. Their 67.2-kg owner has the

Answer:

v=1.26 m/s

Θ=81°NE

Explanation:

Linear momentum is the product of the mass and velocity of an object.

p=mv

Dog's momentum can be hold using its mass and velocity:

m=26.2kg

v=3.21 m/s

P_{dog} =26.2*3.21=84.102 (kg⋅m/s)

same thing with the cat

m=5.30kg

v=2.64m/s

P_{cat} = 5.30*2.64=13.992 (kg⋅m/s)

owner's momentum

p =13.992 m/s i + 84.102 m/s j

divide by mass to get velocity:

v = 0.20m/s i + 1.25 m/s j

mag v = √(0.20² + 1.25²) m/s = 1.26 m/s

Θ = arctan(1.25/0.2) = 81º north of east

A 60 kilogram student jumps down from a laboratory counter. At the instant he lands on the floor hus speed is 3 meters per secon
erastovalidia [21]

As per Newton's law rate of change in momentum is net force

so we can write it as

F = \frac{dP}{dt}

F = \frac{m(v_f - v_i)}{\Delta t}

now we know that

m = 60 kg

v_f = 3 m/s

v_i = 0

\Delta t= 0.2 s

from above equation

F = \frac{60(3 - 0)}{0.2} = 900 N

so he will experience 900 N force in above case

When a certain air-filled parallel-plate capacitor is connected across a battery, it acquires a charge of magnitude 172 μC on ea
crimeas [40]

Answer:

k = 2.279

Explanation:

Given:

Magnitude of charge on each plate, Q = 172 μC

Now,

the capacitance, C of a capacitor is given as:

C = Q/V

where,

V is the potential difference

Thus, the capacitance due to the charge of 172 μC will be

C = \frac{(172\ \mu C)}{V}

Now, when the when the additional charge is accumulated

the capacitance (C') will be

C' = \frac{(172+220)\ \mu C)}{V}

or

C' = \frac{(392)\ \mu C)}{V}

now the dielectric constant (k) is given as:

k=\frac{C'}{C}

substituting the values, we get

k=\frac{\frac{(392\ \mu C)}{V}}{\frac{(172)\ \mu C)}{V}}

or

k = 2.279
