Is dimethyl amine and triethylamine more soluble in water?

Chemistry

No, dimethyl amine and triethyl amine are not more soluble in water. Both are soluble in water but not more soluble in water. These are also soluble in alcohol.
Dimethyl amine is a secondary amine while triethyl amine is a tertiary amine. Generally, the small amines are more soluble in water. As the hydrocarbon chain goes on increasing, the solubility goes on decreasing.

Which factor is generally responsible for high melting points?
kherson [118]
The factor that is generally responsible for higher melting point is intermolecular forces. The compounds that are covalent in nature are made of molecules rather than ions. It has been seen that some of the covalent compounds have polar molecules at one end, due to which the one end has more electronegative force than the other. The electrostatic force that is bounding the compound is the main cause of higher melting point of this compound. So it is true that with the increase of polarity of a compound creates higher melting point. .. hope I helped

Determine moles of 1.5g of sodium carbonate.
KIM [24]

Answer:

0.014mol

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Mass of Na₂CO₃ = 1.5g

Unknown:

Number of moles = ?

Solution:

Number of moles of a compound is mathematically expressed as;

 Number of moles = \frac{mass}{molar mass}

Molar mass of Na₂CO₃ = 2(23) + 12 + 3(16) = 106g/mol

Number of moles = \frac{1.5}{106} = 0.014mol

What is the limiting factor in determining the accumulation of siliceous ooze/calcareous ooze, respectively?
zhannawk [14.2K]

Answer:

productivity and water depth

Explanation:

The productivity and the depth of water are both equally important as it directly affects the accumulation of biogenic sediments such as the siliceous ooze and calcareous ooze. In the equator and the coastal upwelling areas, and at the site of divergence of oceans, there occurs a high rate and amount of productivity, and these are considered to be the primary productivity.

The siliceous oozes are a good indicator of extensively high productivity in comparison to the carbonate oozes. The main reason behind this is that the silica can be easily dissolved in the surface water. On the other hand, the carbonates dissolve at a relatively lower ocean water depth, so there requires a high amount of surface productivity in order to allow these siliceous oozes to reach the ocean bottom.

Thus, the water depth and productivity, both are considered as the limiting factor in determining the accumulation of biogenic oozes.

How many moles of ba(oh)2 are present in 275 ml of 0.200 m ba(oh)2?
DENIUS [597]
You have to put your attention to the unit of concentration. It is expressed in terms of molarity, which is represented in M. It is the number of moles solute per liter solution. So, you simply have to multiply the molarity with the volume in liters.

Volume = 275 mL * 1 L/1000 mL = 0.275 L
Moles Ba(OH)₂ = (0.200 M)(0.275 L) = 0.055 mol
