Oxygen atoms and sulfur atoms form compounds with similar molecular structures because if you look at these two, they both have six electrons in their valence shells. Therefore, they will generally react in much the same manner. I hope this helps you on your assignment.

Heating 2.40 g of the oxide of metal X (molar mass of X = 55.9 g/mol) in carbon monoxide (CO) yields the pure metal and carbon d
Korolek [52]

Answer:The molecular formula of the oxide of metal be X_2O_3. The balanced equation for the reaction is given by:

X_2O_3+3CO\rightarrow 3CO_2+2X

Explanation:

Let the molecular formula of the oxide of metal be X_2O_y

X_2O_y+yCO\rightarrrow yCO_2+2X

Mass of metal product = 1.68 g

Moles of metal X =\frac{1.68 g}{55.9 g/mol}=0.03005 mol

1 mol of metal oxide produces 2 moles of metal X.

Then 0.03005 moles of metal X will be produced by:

\frac{1}{2}\times 0.03005 mol=0.01502 mol of metal oxide

Mass of 0.01502 mol of metal oxide = 2.40 g (given)

0.01502 mol\times (2\times 55.9 g/mol+y\times 16 g/mol)=2.40 g

y = 2.999 ≈ 3

The molecular formula of the oxide of metal be X_2O_3. The balanced equation for the reaction is given by:

X_2O_3+3CO\rightarrow 3CO_2+2X

How many atoms are in 45.22 moles of strontium
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

272.31× 10²³ atom of strontium

Explanation:

Given data:

Number of moles of strontium = 45.22 mol

Number of atoms = ?

Solution:

The given problem will solve by using Avogadro number.

It is the number of atoms , ions and molecules in one gram atom of element, one gram molecules of compound and one gram ions of a substance.  The number 6.022 × 10²³ is called Avogadro number.

1 mole = 6.022 × 10²³ atoms

45.22 mol × 6.022 × 10²³ atom / 1 mol

272.31× 10²³ atom

Sodium hydrogen carbonate NaHCO3, also known as sodium bicarbonate or "baking soda", can be used to relieve acid indigestion. Ac
olga2289 [7]

Answer:

1.4952 grams of sodium bicarbonate she  would need to ingest to neutralize this much HCl.

Explanation:

Moles (n)=Molarity(M)\times Volume (L)

Moles of hydrochloric acid = n

Volume of hydrochloric acid solution = 200.0 mL = 0.200 L

Molarity of the hydrochloric acid = 0.089 M

n=0.089 M\times 0.200 L=0.0178 mol of HCL

HCl(aq)+NaHCO_3(aq)\rightarrow NaCl(aq)+H_2O(l)+CO_2(g)

According to reaction, 1 mole of HCl is neutralized by 1 mole of sodium bicarbonate.

Then 0.0178 moles of HCl wil be neutralized by :

\frac{1}{1}\times 0.0178 mol=0.0178 mol of sodium bicarbonate

Mass of 0.0178 moles of sodium bicarbonate:

0.0178 mol × 72 g/mol = 1.4952 g

1.4952 grams of sodium bicarbonate she  would need to ingest to neutralize this much HCl.
