Zain is standing on a bridge. He tosses a ball upwards, which rises, stops, and then falls all the way to the water (30 meters b

elow Zain). Suppose that the speed at which Zain tosses the ball 1.50 m/s, and then answer the following two questions.
(A) How much time does it take the ball to strike the water?
(B) What is the speed of the ball when it hits the water?

Answer:

A. 2.41 s.

B. 24.3 m/s.

Explanation:

vf = vi + 2a*t

where, vf = final velocity

= 0 m/s

vi = final velocity

= 1.5 m/s

a = 9.8 m/s^2

A.

ti = 1.5/(9.8 * 2)

= 0.08 s

Vf^2 = Vi^2 + 2a*s

1.5^2 = 2 * 9.8 * s

S = 0.115 m

Time taken to drop into the water,

30.115 = 1.5*to + 4.9*to^2

to = 2.33 s

Total time taken = ti + to

= 2.33 + 0.08

= 2.41 s.

B.

Vo = 0 m/s

S = 30.115 m

Vf = ?

Using,

Vf^2 = Vo^2 + 2*a*s

= sqrt (2*9.8*30.115)

= 24.3 m/s.

In a waterfall, water falls 60 m. Assume all the potential energy change increases its enthalpy (or internal energy, in this cas
iVinArrow [24]

Answer:

The temperature rise of the water is = 0.14 °c

Explanation:

Height = 60 m

Potential energy change ΔP = m gh

ΔP = m × 9.81 × 60

ΔP = (588.6 × m) Joule

Since the Potential energy change is equal to the internal energy change or Enthalpy change.

ΔP = ΔH

Since ΔH = m × C × ΔT

⇒ ΔP = m × C × ΔT

Put all the values in above formula we get

⇒ 588.6 × m = m × 4184 × ΔT

⇒ ΔT= 0.14 °c

Therefore the temperature rise of the water is = 0.14 °c

Calculate the magnitude of acceleration of a block that has a mads of 2.0 kg and is pulled along a table by a force of 15 N. The
Alexxx [7]

Answer:

5.05 ms⁻²

Explanation:

(check the graph)

when the block is pulled with a force , force of kinetic friction (Fr) appears resisiting the motion.

Fr = μR = μ*mg (where g- gravitational acceleration = 9.8 ms⁻²)

 = 0.25 * 2 * 9.8

 =4.9 N

According to Newton's second law of motion

we can apply F = ma to the motion assuming the block is moving right

F = ma (a - acceleration)

15 - 4.9 = 2*a

a = 5.05 ms⁻²
