Answer:

6.(C) Magnesium and fluorine

7.(A) Oppositely charged ions attract

8.(C) 3

9.(d) BaI_2

Explanation:

6.An ionic bond is formed between a metal and a non metal.

Magnesium is a metal and fluorine is a non metal, so they form ionic bond.

7. Ionic compounds are electrically neutral as they consist of equal and opposite charges.

8. Nitrogen has 5 electrons in outermost orbit , 8 is required in the outermost orbit to gain the noble gas configuration.

Thus, 8-5=3 \ needed

9. An ionic compound has a metal and a non metal, out of those four options only barium(Ba) is the metal combined with a non metal iodine(I)

Thus BaI_2 best fits.

Thus those are the respective answers.

The geological time scale is divided up and organized according to what life forms existed on earth.
Ivanshal [37]

Answer:

true

Explanation:

Geologic time is divided into four large segments called Eons: Hadean, Archean, Proterozoic, and Phanerozoic. The Phanerozoic Eon isdivided into Eras: Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic. The divisions among Eras reflect major changes in the fossil record, including the extinction and appearance of new life forms.

If a mixture of gases contained 78% nitrogen at a pressure of 984 torr and 22% carbon dioxide at 345 torr, what is the total pre
AysviL [449]

Answer:

P(total) = 1329 torr

Explanation:

Given data:

Pressure of nitrogen = 984 torr

Pressure of carbon dioxide = 345 torr

Total pressure of system = ?

Solution:

The given problem will be solve through the Dalton law of partial pressure of gases.

According to the this law,

The total pressure exerted by the mixture of gases is equal to the sum of partial pressure of individual gas.

Mathematical expression,

P(total) = P₁ + P₂ +.......+ Pₙ

Here we will put the values in formula,

P₁ = partial pressure of nitrogen

P₂ = partial pressure of carbon dioxide

P(total) = 984 torr + 345 torr

P(total) = 1329 torr

The main reasons why h2co has a higher vapor pressure at a given temperature when compared to ch3oh is that h2co
Katen [24]
You know that each carbon atom can take as much as 4 bonds with other elements. A hydrogen can only take one bond, while an oxygen can take 2. Thus, the chemical formula of H₂CO may be written as H₂C=O which is acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde is an aldehyde. It has a higher vapor pressure because aldehydes have much stronger bonds than hydrogen bonds in alcohols. Hence, it would need a lot energy, thus higher vapor pressure, to break the bonds of an aldehyde than it would for an alcohol.

The boiling point of a liquid is 64 °c and the enthalpy change for the conversion of this liquid to the gas is 32.21 kj/mole. wh
saul85 [17]

Entropy change of vaporization is simply the ratio of enthalpy change and the temperature in Kelvin.

Temperature = 64 + 273.15 = 337.15 K

Hence,

δsvap = (32.21 kJ / mole) / 337.15 K

δsvap = 0.0955 kJ / mole K = 95.5 J / mole K
