How does radioactive dating allow scientist to accurately date rocks

Answer: Radioactive dating allow us to accurately date rocks  by measuring the quantity of unstable atoms left in a rock and comparing it to the quantity of stable daughter atoms in the rock

Explanation: See, radioactive atoms are unstable. They continuously decay to form stable daughter atoms. When molten rock cools, radioactive atoms are trapped inside. Afterwards, they decay at a predictable rate. By measuring the quantity of unstable atoms left in a rock and comparing it to the quantity of stable daughter atoms in the rock, scientists can estimate the amount of time that has passed since that rock formed.

Some atoms used for radioactive dating are that of carbon, uranium, potassium, etc.,

Sedimentary rocks can be dated using radioactive carbon, but because carbon decays relatively quickly, this only works for rocks younger than about 50 thousand years.

Igneous rocks can be dated using elements that are slow to decay, such as uranium and potassium

Hope it helps!!!

geologists use radiometric dating to estimate how long ago rocks formed, and to infer the ages of fossils contained within those rocks. the methods work because radioactive elements are unstable, and they are always trying to move to a more stable state. so, they do this by giving off radiation. this process by which an unstable atomic nucleus loses energy by releasing radiation is called radioactive decay. the thing that makes this decay process so valuable for determining the age of an object is that each radioactive isotope decays at its own fixed rate, which is expressed in terms of its half-life. so, if you know the radioactive isotope found in a substance and the isotope's half-life, you can calculate the age of the substance.

How much power is used if a force of 54 newtons is used to pull a wagon a distance of 10 meters in 6 seconds?
AnnZ [28]
First, calculate the work done: 54 x 10 = 540J.
Now calculate power: 540 / 6 = 90.
The answer is 90W.

Hope this helps.

16. The energy absorbed in 10minutes by an electrical heater is 1.5 MJ. The supply voltage is 240 V. calculate: a) The current d
dsp73

Answer:

If by 1.5 MJ you mean 1.5E6 Joules then

W = P t    = power X time

W / t = P   power

P = 1.5E6 J / 600 sec = 2500 J / s

P = I V

a) I = 2500 J/s / (240 J/c) = 10.4 C / sec  = 10.4 amps

b) Q = I t = 10.4 C / sec * 300 sec = 3120 Coulombs

c)  E = P * t = 2500 J / sec * 100 hr * 3600 sec / hr = 9.0E8 Joules

A 47-kg packing crate is pulled with constant speed across a rough floor with a rope that is at an angle of 37 degrees above the
levacccp [35]

Tension in the rope due to applied force will be given as

F = 142 N

angle of applied force with horizontal is 37 degree

displacement along the floor = 6.1 m

so here we can use the formula of work done

W = F d cos\theta

now we can plug in all values above

W = 142 * 6.1 * cos37

W = 691.8 J

So here work done to pull is given by 691.8 J
