The salt bridge prevents the direct mixing of one half-cell solution with the other and allows ions to migrate from one half-cell to another.

Salt bridge is used to maintain the electrical neutrality in a cell as migration of ions from half cell to other half cell occurs to keep the balance in charges. In the absence of the salt bridge, the charges get imbalanced. After that, the cell stops working because ions will collected in both the electrolytes until the potential difference due to ions and potential difference from the reaction is just opposite to each other. Due to this, flow of electrons doesn't takes place and no current will flow.

Therefore, the function of salt bridge is to maintain the electrical neutrality in a cell.

Sulfur trioxide is a gas that reacts with liquid water to produce aqueous sulfuric Acid or acid rain what is the equation for th
bearhunter [10]

Answer:

SO₃(g) + H₂O(l) → H₂SO₄(aq)

Explanation:

The molecular formula for the involved species are:

 • Sulfur trioxide = SO₃. ("trioxide" indicates the presence of 3 oxygen atoms).
 • Water = H₂O
 • Sulfuric acid = H₂SO₄

With the above information in mind we can proceed to write the reaction equation:

 • SO₃(g) + H₂O(l) → H₂SO₄(aq)

Determine whether each phrase describes carboxylic acids or esters.
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

Carboxylic acids produce hydrogen bonds amongst themselves and possess lower vapor pressure. They generally possess a sour odor. When an acid and a base react with each other to produce salt and water and comprises the combination of hydrogen and hydroxide ions, the reaction is termed the neutralization reaction. Thus, when carboxylic acid reacts with base the reaction is termed neutralization.

On the other hand, esters are known for their pleasant fragrances. They do not produce hydrogen bonds amongst themselves and possess higher vapor pressure. A hydration reaction in which free hydroxide dissociates the ester bonds between the glycerol and fatty acids of a triglyceride, leading to the formation of free fatty acids and glycerol is termed saponification.

Thus, the given blanks can be filled with carboxylic acid, carboxylic acid, esters, esters, esters, and carboxylic acid.

3Fe+4H2O(yields) Fe3O4+4H2. What is the mole ratio of Fe3O4 to Fe?
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer: The correct answer is Option A.

Explanation:

Mole ratio is defined as the ratio between the stoichiometric coefficients of the molecules present in the chemical reaction.

For the given balanced chemical equation:

3Fe+4H_2O\rightarrow Fe_3O_4+4H_2

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

3 moles of iron metal reacts with 4 moles of water to produce 1 mole of iron oxide and 4 moles of hydrogen gas.

The mole ratio of Fe_3O_4:Fe=1:3

Hence, the correct answer is Option A.

PLEASE HELPPPP! HOW DO I DO THIS???
kow [346]

Answer:

1552.83J Released

Explanation:

1. mass/m=225

Initial temp:86C, final:32.5C

Changed Temp: 32.5-86= -53.5C

s=0.129 J/gC

Formula: q= m times s times changed Temp.

q=(225)(0.129)(-53.5)

q= -1552.83 J

q=1552.83 J Released
