A grinding wheel is in the form of a uniform solid disk of radius 7.00 cm and mass 2.00 kg. It starts from rest and accelerates

uniformly under the action of the constant torque of 0.600 N,m that the motor exerts on the wheel. (a) How long does the wheel take to reach its final operating speed of 1 200 rev/min? (b) Through how many revolutions does it turn while accelerating?

Answer:

Part a)

t = 1.03 s

Part b)

N = 10.3 rev

Explanation:

Mass of the disc is given as

m = 2.00 kg

radius of the disc is given as

r = 7 cm

so moment of inertia of the disc is given as

I = \frac{1}{2}mr^2

I = \frac{1}{2}(2)(0.07)^2

I = 4.9 \times 10^{-3} kg m^2

Now given that torque on the disc is

\tau = 0.600 Nm

so here the angular acceleration is given as

\alpha = \frac{\tau}{I}

\alpha = \frac{0.600}{4.9 \times 10^{-3}}

\alpha = 122.45 rad/s^2

Part a)

if disc start from rest and then achieve final speed as 1200 rpm then

f = 1200/60 = 20 rev/s

so final speed is

\omega = 2\pi(20) = 40\pi rad/s

now the time taken to reach this speed is given as

\alpha t = \omega

(122.45) t = 40\pi

t = 1.03 s

Part b)

Number of revolution in the same time is given as

N = \frac{\omega_o + \omega}{4\pi} t

N = \frac{40\pi + 0}{4\pi}(1.03) = 10.3 rev

Suppose a square wave signal has a 65 percent duty cycle and an on-state voltage of 40 volts DC. What is the average DC voltage
Ierofanga [76]

Answer:

The voltage is \= DC _v  =    2.6 \  V

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

  The duty cycle is  p =  65% = 0.65

   The on - state voltage is  V  =  40 \  volt

Generally the average DC voltage is mathematically represented as

        \= DC _v  =   p *  V

=>      \= DC _v  =     40 * 0.65

=>      \= DC _v  =    2.6 \  V

Suppose 1 kg of Hydrogen is converted into Helium. a) What is the mass of the He produced? b) How much energy is released in thi
morpeh [17]

Answer:

a) m = 993 g

b) E = 6.50 × 10¹⁴ J

Explanation:

atomic mass of hydrogen = 1.00794

4 hydrogen atom will make a helium atom = 4 × 1.00794 = 4.03176

we know atomic mass of helium = 4.002602

difference in the atomic mass of helium = 4.03176-4.002602 = 0.029158

fraction of mass lost = \dfrac{0.029158}{4.03176}= 0.00723

loss of mass for 1000 g = 1000 × 0.00723 = 7.23

a) mass of helium produced = 1000-7.23 = 993 g (approx.)

b) energy released in the process

E = m c²

E = 0.00723 × (3× 10⁸)²

E = 6.50 × 10¹⁴ J

A classroom has 24 fluorescent bulbs, each of which is 32 W. how much energy does it take to light the room for a minute?(unit=J
cestrela7 [59]

Answer:

Energy= 46.08KJ

Explanation:

Given that the power needed to light each bulb is 32W

We know that Power = \frac{energy}{time}

The energy needed to light one bulb=power*time

Given time = 1minute = 60 seconds

Energy = 32W*60sec=1920J

Therefore energy needed to light one bulb is 1920J

The energy needed to light 24 bulbs = 1920*24 =46080J=46.08KJ

The energy delivered to the resistive coil is dissipated as heat at a rate equal to the power input of the circuit. However, not
Nuetrik [128]

Answer:

P(bat) = V²r/(R+r)²

Explanation:

Let the resistance of the coil be R

Internal resistance of the battery be r

Emf of the battery = V

Power dissipated in the internal resistance of the battery is normally given as P = I²r

where I is the current flowing in the circuit.

From Ohm's law,

V = I R(eq)

R(eq) = (R + r)

I = V/(R+r)

P = I²r

P = [V/(R+r)]²r

P = V²r/(R+r)²

Hope this Helps!!!
