In gasoline vehicles like the Ford Bronco, octane combines with oxygen gas to create an explosion. This explosion is what powers

the vehicle. A product of this reaction is carbon dioxide which has been attributed to global warming. How many grams of carbon dioxide are produced for every 350 grams of octane reacted in the engine? 2C8H18 + 25 O2 -> 16 CO2 + 18 H2O

Answer:  1082 g of carbon dioxide are produced for every 350 grams of octane reacted in the engine

Explanation:

To calculate the moles :

\text{Moles of solute}=\frac{\text{given mass}}{\text{Molar Mass}}

\text{Moles of} C_8H_{18}=\frac{350g}{114g/mol}=3.07moles

2C_8H_{18}+25O_2(g)\rightarrow 16CO_2+18H_2O

According to stoichiometry :

As 2 moles of octane give = 16 moles of CO_2

Thus 3.07 moles of octane will give =\frac{16}{2}\times 3.07=24.6moles  of CO_2

Mass of CO_2=moles\times {\text {Molar mass}}=24.6moles\times 44g/mol=1082g

Thus 1082 g of carbon dioxide are produced for every 350 grams of octane reacted in the engine

Identify which trends in the diagrams below describe atomic radius, ionization energy, electron affinity, and electronegativity.
mihalych1998 [28]

a)  figure describe ionization energy , electron affinity & electron negativity

b) figure describe Atomic Radius

c) does represent anything

Electronegativity : An atom attracted the bond pair of electrons in a covalent bond is called electronegativity of an element.       H-->Cl

Ionization energy : The amount of energy is required to remove of an electron from an isolated gas atom is called Ionization energy.   M + IP-----> M+ + e-

Electron affinity: The amount of enery is released when an electron added to an isolated atom is called electron affinity.

   X + e- ------> X- =- EA

Atomic radius ; The distance between the center of neuclies and outer most shell is called atomic radius.
