The average thickness of the earth's crust is about 18 miles under the continent and 3 miles under the ocean.

Explanation:

Crust is defined as the outermost shell which is solid in every planet and natural satellite. Crust is formed above the mantle.

The crust is composed of different chemicals and generally formed by igneous process and modified later by environmental hazards like soil erosion, eruption of volcano, sedimentation caused during floods etc.

Generally, the crust of in a planet tend to be uniform in composition, properties and also thickness.

But in Earth crust is of two types. Because the crust formed in the land or say below the continents have different compositions and physio-chemical properties compared to the crust formed below oceans.

So the crust in earth is classified in two types. They are continental crust and oceanic crust.

Even the formation of continental and oceanic crust differs from each other because the solid outermost shell of the continents are harder than the outermost solid shell of the oceans.

So the thickness of the continental crust is about 18 miles and oceanic crust is about 3 miles only. Thus the continental crust is thicker and harder than oceanic crust.

Average oceanic crust thickness = (3+6)/2 = 4.5 mi
Average continental crust thickness = (20+30)/2 = 25 mi

Average Earth's crust thickness = (4.5+25)/2 = 14.75 mi

Guillaume puts a bottle of soft drink in a refrigerator and leaves it there until its temperature has dropped 15.1 K.
Zarrin [17]

Answer: (a) The magnitude of its temperature change in degrees Celsius is 15.1^{o}C.

(b) The magnitude of the temperature change (change in T = 15.1 K) in degrees Fahrenheit is 27.2^{o}F.

Explanation:

(a)  Expression for change in temperature is as follows.

        |\Delta T| = |x - y|K

                         = 15.1 K

                    = |(x - 273.15) - (y - 273.15)|^{o}C

                    = |x - y|^{o}C

                    = 15.1^{o}C

Therefore, the magnitude of its temperature change in degrees Celsius is 15.1^{o}C.

(b)  Change in temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit is as follows.

           F = 1.8C + 32

          C = \frac{F - 32}{1.8}

Since,   K = C + 273

or,    \Delta K = \Delta C = \frac{\Delta F}{1.8}

         \Delta F = 1.8 \Delta K

                      = 1.8 (15.1)

                      = 27.18^{o}F

or,                  = 27.2^{o}F

Thus, we can conclude that the magnitude of the temperature change (change in T = 15.1 K) in degrees Fahrenheit is 27.2^{o}F.

As an airplane accelerates in level flight, what parameter must the pilot adjust to keep level and balance Lift = Weight?
Y_Kistochka [10]

Answer:

C. Angle of Attack.

Explanation:

The pilot must adjust the angle of attack parameter. The angle of attack of this plane to get to the desired lift coefficient.

And thus, we have

Physics question, answer completely with work

The force is 2.0 N east

Explanation:

The impulse exerted by a force is defined as the product between the force itself and the time interval during which the force is applied. Mathematically, it is equal to the change in momentum experienced by the object on which the force is acting:

I=F\Delta t = \Delta p

Where

I is the impulse

F is the force

Delta t is the time interval during which the force is applied

\Delta p is the change in momentum

In this problem,

\Delta t = 3.0 s is the time interval

I=6.0 N\cdot s (east) is the impulse

Therefore, the magnitude of the force is

F=\frac{I}{\Delta t}=\frac{6.0}{3.0}=2.0 N

And the direction is the same as the impulse (east).

In a thunder and lightning storm there is a rule of thumb that many people follow. After seeing the lightning, count seconds to
lubasha [3.4K]

Answer:

2.837% less than actual value.

Explanation:

Based on given information let's calculate our value.

S = Vxt = 331m/s x 5s = 1655m, that is the total distance that sound would travel in 5 seconds.

1mile = 1609.34meters.

percentage error is.

\frac{actual-calculated}{actual} *100 = \frac{1609.34-1655}{1609.34} *100 = -2.83%

negative indicates less than actual value.
