Another name for a homogeneous mixture is a solution. The term "solution" is more frequently used when a homogeneous mixture is a liquid, although it is sometimes used if the homogeneous mixture is a gas. Another name for a solid homogeneous mixture of metals is an alloy.

The ph of a 0.55 m aqueous solution of hypobromous acid, hbro, at 25.0 °c is 4.48. what is the value of ka for hbro?
gladu [14]
Hbro dissociate as follows
HBro---> H+ + BrO-
 Ka= (H+)(BrO-) / HBro
PH = -log (H+)
therefore (H+) = 10^-4.48= 3.31 x10^-5
ka is therefore= ( 3.31 x 10^-5)^2/0.55=1.99 x10^-9

39. Analyze What subscripts would you most likely use if
Igoryamba

Based on their valencies, the subscripts of the ionic compounds formed will be:

 • 1 and 1
 • 2 and 1
 • 1 and 2
 • 2 and 2

What subscripts would you most likely use if the following substances formed an ionic compound?

A. An alkali metal and a halogen.

An alkali metal and a halogen both have valencies of one.

Therefore the subscripts would be 1.

B. An alkali metal and a non-metal from group 16.

An alkali metal has a valency of 1 and a group 16 non-metal has a valency of 2.

By exchange of valencies, the subscript would be 2 and 1.

C. An alkaline earth metal and a halogen.

An alkaline earth metal has a valency of 2 and a halogen has a valency of 1.

By exchange of valencies, the subscripts would be 1 and 2.

D. An alkaline earth metal and a non-metal from group 16.

An alkaline earth metal has a valency of 2 and a non-metal from group 16 has a valency of 2.

By exchange of valencies, the subscripts would be 2 and 2.

Therefore, the subscripts of the ionic compounds formed will be:

 • 1 and 1
 • 2 and 1
 • 1 and 2
 • 2 and 2

If kc = 7.04 × 10-2 for the reaction: 2 hbr(g) ⇌h2(g) + br2(g), what is the value of kc for the reaction: 1/2 h2(g) + 1/2 br2 ⇌h
Kay [80]
At the first reaction when 2HBr(g) ⇄ H2(g) + Br2(g)
So Kc = [H2] [Br2] / [HBr]^2
7.04X10^-2 = [H2][Br] / [HBr]^2

at the second reaction when 1/2 H2(g) + 1/2 Br2 (g) ⇄ HBr
Its Kc value will = [HBr] / [H2]^1/2*[Br2]^1/2
we will make the first formula of Kc upside down:
1/7.04X10^-2 = [HBr]^2/[H2][Br2]
and by taking the square root:
∴ √(1/7.04X10^-2)= [HBr] / [H2]^1/2*[Br]^1/2
∴ Kc for the second reaction = √(1/7.04X10^-2) = 3.769
