The answer: b. translated according to the rule (x, y) → (x + 8, y + 2) and reflected across the x-axis

If you make the drawing of the situation you realize the you need a reflection through the x-axis, but first you need to translate the polygon several units to the left and upward.

You can see that all the x-coordinates have increased 8 units, so the solution has to include x + 8.

Also, you see that you have to move the polygon 2 units upward before doing the reflection so the solution has to include y + 2.

So, the answer is (x,y) ---> (x + 8, y + 2) and then reflection across the x-axis.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING. VERY IMPORTANT TO GET PROBLEM RIGHT!!!

THE PENTAGON LOCATION IS AT

A prime B prime C prime D prime E prime on the coordinate plane with ordered pairs at A negative 4, 5, at B negative 6, 4, at C negative 5, 1, at D negative 2, 2, at E negative 2, 4, at A prime 4, negative 7, at B prime 2, negative 6, at C prime 3, negative 3, at D prime 6, negative 4, at E prime 6, negative 6.

SUBSTITUTE THOSE COORDINATES INTO YOUR PROBLEM TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE SAME ONE!!! THERE ARE DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THIS PROBLEM SO BE CAREFUL!! THIS ANSWER IS ONLY FOR THE COORDINATES SHOWN ABOVE!!!

Factoring by grouping

x^2 + 4y + 2x + 2xy
pls explain with work too!!!
Gennadij [26K]

{x}^{2} + 4y + 2x + 2xy

We can factorise this expression by grouping. First let us arrange it in this way

= {x}^{2} + 2xy + 2x + 4y

Let us bracket them like this:

= ( {x}^{2} + 2xy) + (2x+ 4y)

In the first bracket portion, take x as common and in the second expression, take 2 as common.

= x(x + 2y) + 2(x + 2y) \\ = (x + 2)(x + 2y)

Answer:

(x + 2)(x + 2y)

Hope you could understand.

If you have any query, feel free to ask.
