A butcher has a beam balance and masses 0.5kg and 2kg.How would he measure 1.5kg of meat on the balance at once
LekaFEV [45]

Answer and Explanation:

  • The butcher will balance the meat and the 0.5 kg mass on one side of the beam balance and 2 kg mass on the other side of the beam balance.
  • By so doing, when the beam balances then the amount of meat measured will be exactly 1.5 kg as required. Since the 1.5 kg meat and 0.5 kg mass is equivalent to the 2 kg on the other side of the beam balance.

Which one has larger kinetic energy: a 500-kg object moving at 40 m/s or a 1000-kg object moving at 20 m/s?
erma4kov [3.2K]
Kinetic  energy is energy possess by an object due to it motion.

Mass 1;  m = 500 Kg   Velocity 1;  V = 40 m/s

Mass 2;  m = 1000 Kg   Velocity 2;  V = 20 m/s

Formula: K.E = 1/2mv²

For Mass 1  K.E = 1/2(500 Kg)(40 m/s)² = 400, 000 J

For Mass 2  K.E = 1/2(1000 Kg)(20 m/s)² = 200,000 J

This solution shows that a larger velocity will have a greater kinetic energy.

An absent-minded Penn State professor drives from State College to Tyrone, 20 miles away, at 60 mph (miles per hour), before rea
BaLLatris [955]

Answer:20 mph

Explanation:

Given

distance between college to Tyrone=20 miles

Given professor drives with a velocity of 60 mph

he returns to college after reaching tyrone and then again drive to tyrone.

so his net displacement is 20 miles

time taken to cover 20 miles is \frac{1}{3} hr

average velocity=\frac{Displacement}{Time\ taken}

V_{avg}=\frac{20}{\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{3}}

V_{avg}=\frac{20}{1}=20 mph

What does it mean to have an acceleration of -10 m/s^2 when the velocity is 80 m/s?
mamaluj [8]

Answer:

1,3

Explanation:

As the acceleration is -10m/s^2 , that means deceleration is occurring. That means, the object is slowing down.

v=u-at

or, 0=80-10t

or, t=8 seconds

So, the object will stop in 8 seconds.

So, the correct answers are 1 and 3.

Hope, this helps you.
