Use the helium-4 isotope to define atomic number and mass number. why does knowledge of atomic number enable us to deduce the nu
Nuetrik [128]
Helium - 4 isotope has 2 protons and 2 neutrons.

Its atomic number is 2 (the number of protons). Atomic number is the number of protons in the atom of an element and it identifies the element. All the isotopes of an element have the same atomic number (same number of protons). So, all the isotopes of hellium have 2 protons.

The number 4 that identifies the helium - 4 isotope is the mass number, i.e. the number of protons plus the number of neutron. So, helium-4 isotope has 2 protons and 2 neutrons. While, other isotopes of helium have 2 protons but different number of neutrons.

The atomic number enable us to deduce the number of electrons in an atom because the atoms are neutral, which implies that the positive and negative charge are equal. Given that the magnitude of the charge of electons and protons are equal but the sign is opposed (protons are positve and electrons are negative) the number of electrons in the atom equals the number of protonts. That is why the atomic number is also the number of electrons of the atom.

How many moles of electrons is required to deposit 5.6g of iron from a solution of iron (2) tetraoxosulphate(6)
yuradex [85]

Answer:

0.20 mol

Explanation:

Let's consider the reduction of iron from an aqueous solution of iron (II).

Fe²⁺ + 2 e⁻ ⇒ Fe

The molar mass of Fe is 55.85 g/mol. The moles corresponding to 5.6 g of Fe are:

5.6 g × 1 mol/55.85 g = 0.10 mol

2 moles of electrons are required to deposit 1 mole of Fe. The moles of electrons required to deposit 0.10 moles of Fe are

0.10 mol Fe × 2 mol e⁻/1 mol Fe = 0.20 mol e⁻

Which type of society survives mainly by foraging for food?
Dennis_Churaev [7]
The appropriate answer is a. HUNTER-GATHERER. Hunter-gatherer societies are nomadic and they forage for edible plants, bean, fruits and nuts. They also hunt wild game for food. Early humans in the Neolithic period practiced this way of life.
Agrarian societies thrive on agriculture which they depend on for sustainable and for trade. Animals and plants are domesticated and so people can settle and build a society. Pastoral agriculture is a semi-nomadic lifestyle where the society is centered around keeping herds of grazing animals. Industrial societies focus on manufacturing and this is the backbone of the society.
