A 450-g black crow is raiding the recently-filled bird feeder. As someone runs out the back door to scare the crow away, it push

es off the 670-gram feeder with a takeoff speed of 1.5 m/s. Determine the speed at which the feeder initially recoils backwards.

Answer:

2.50 m/s

Explanation:

This question can be solved using momentum conservation equation

combined mass of crow and feeder = 450+670=1120 gm

let the recoil speed of feeder be v m/s

Then applying momentum conservation we get;

1120×1.5 = 670×v

v= 2.50 m/s

the speed at which the feeder initially recoils backwards = 2.50 m/s

Your heart pumps blood at a pressure of 100 mmHg and flow speed of 60 cm/s. At your brain, the blood enters capillaries with suc
Savatey [412]

Answer:

1.28 m

Explanation:

Generally, pressure of fluid is given by

P=\rho g h where g is acceleration due to gravity, h is the height and \rho is the density

Considering that the pressure for mercury is same as for blood only that the height and density of fluid are different then

\rho_b g h_b= \rho_m g h_m

Since g is constant, then

\rho_b h_b= \rho_m h_m

Making h_b the subject of the formula then

h_b=\frac {\rho_m h_m}{\rho_b}

Where subscripts m and b denote mercury and blood respectively

Assuming density of blood is 1060 Kg/m3, density of mercury as 13600 Kg/m3 and substituting height of mercury for 0.1 m then

h_b=\frac {13600*0.1}{1060}=1.283018868  m \approx 1.28 m

A light wave moves from diamond (n= 2.4) into water (n= 1.33) at an angleof 24°. what angle does it have in water?
worty [1.4K]

Answer:

n1 sin θ1 = n2 sin θ2      Snell's Law       (θ1 is the angle of incidence)

sin θ2 = n1 / n2 * sin θ1

sin θ2 = 2.4 / 1.33 * sin θ1

sin θ2 = 1.80 * .407 = .734

θ2 = 47.2 deg

Tyson throws a shot put ball weighing 7.26 kg. At a height of 2.1 m above the ground, the mechanical energy of the ball is 172.1
max2010maxim [7]

Answer:

2.5 m/s

Explanation:

Mechanical energy is the sum of the potential and kinetic energy.

E = PE + KE

E = mgh + ½mv²

172.1 J = (7.26 kg) (9.8 m/s²) (2.1 m) + ½ (7.26 kg) v²

v = 2.5 m/s
