1. Leigh is preparing popcorn for her friends. She removes a stick of butter from the refrigerator and cuts a fourth of it from

the rest. Leigh remembers her lesson in school today about the conservation of mass that occurs during state changes. She wants to test what she learned, so she measures the mass of the butter she will melt. Its mass is 35 g. Then, she places the butter in the microwave and melts it. What should the mass of the liquid butter be once it is melted?

Water is stored in a tank at 75°C and 2.5 atm. Use the Antoine equation calculate the boiling temperature of the water (F). Repo
andreev551 [17]

Explanation:

Antoine equation is as follows.

              log_{10} P = A - \frac{B}{C + T}

It water is at 75^{o}C, then values of constants A, B, and C will be as follows.

               A = 8.07131,  B = 1730.63,  C = 233.426

When pressure, P = 2.5 atm then putting these given values into the above equation as follows.

               log_{10} P = A - \frac{B}{C + T}

               log_{10} (2.5 \times 101.325 \times 10^{3}) = (8.07131 - \frac{1730.63}{233.426 + T})

                5.40365 = 8.07131 - \frac{1730.63}{233.4 + T}

                        T = 415.33^{o}C

Converting the temperature into Fahrenheit as follows.

                   T_{F} = \frac{9}{5} \times 415.33 + 32

                                  = 779.5^{o}F

Thus, we can conclude that the boiling temperature of the water is 779.5^{o}F.

The point where ground water reaches the surface and pours out is called a summer? true or false
nlexa [21]

Answer:

False

Explanation:

Groundwater and surface water have a relationship.

Groundwater is the water that is contained in a subsurface layer of an underlying soil/rock whereas surface water is that found in a lake, river or some other surface cavities.

However, when groundwater is discharged to surface water bodies, it is said to be surface water. Thus the statement asked is false.
