\text{NH}_4, KF and MgO are ionic compounds.

Further Explanation:

Covalent bond

The type of bond that includes the sharing of electron pairs between the constituent atoms in a compound is known as a covalent bond. The electron pairs are therefore called bonding or shared pairs.

Ionic bond

The force of interaction between a positively and a negatively charged species is termed as an ionic bond. These charged species are known as ions. Cations are the species formed when there occurs a loss of electrons by the neutral atom whereas anions result from the gain or addition of electrons to the uncharged atom.

Electronegativity difference (\Delta\text{EN}) is a key factor in predicting whether a bond is polar or nonpolar. If \Delta\text{EN} is less than 0.4, the bond is a nonpolar covalent bond. If \Delta\text{EN}  is between 0.4 and 1.7, the bond is a polar covalent bond. If \Delta\text{EN} comes out to be greater than 1.7, the bond is ionic.

\text{NH}_4\text{Cl}

In this molecule, the constituent particles are {\text{NH}}_4^ + and \text{Cl}^- ions. There is a formation of an ionic bond between the two and therefore \text{NH}_4\text{Cl}  is an ionic compound.

 \text{SO}_2

Here, both the constituents are nonmetals so the compound is a covalent compound.

FCl

The electronegativity of fluorine is 4.0 while that of chlorine is 3.0 so their electronegativity difference in FCl comes out to be 1.0 and therefore this molecule is a polar covalent compound.

KF

Here, K is an electropositive metal so it loses an electron that is gained by electronegative F atom, resulting in the formation of an ionic bond between the two. So KF is an ionic compound.

\text{NH}_3

Here, nitrogen and hydrogen are the constituent particles of the compound and both are nonmetals so \text{NH}_3 is a covalent compound.

MgO

Here, magnesium acts as metal and forms cation by the removal of an electron from it. Oxygen, being electronegative, accepts this electron and forms an anion. The interaction between \text{mg}^{2+} and \text{O}^{2-} ions is an ionic bond so MgO is an ionic compound.

Therefore \text{NH}_4, KF and MgO are ionic compounds.

I think the correct answers from the choices listed above are the first, third and the last option. Ionic compounds are compounds that dissociates into ions when in aqueous solution. From the list, NH4Cl, KF and MgO are the ionic compounds. Hope this answers the question.

The pKa of a weak acid can be determined from its titration curve.a. Trueb. False
In-s [12.5K]

Answer:

a. True

Explanation:

Yes, the titration curve can determine or can reveal the pKa value of a weak acid.

Titration is a scientific method to estimate the dissolved substance concentration, known as the titrand, in a known volume when it reacts with another chemical substance of known volume as well as concentration. The other substance is known as Titrant.

When a weak acid like acetic acid is titrated to a very strong base such as NaOH, the titration curve is obtained and the pH value is noted. But the titration curve of any weak acid shows a characteristic shape. At the end of titration, the acetic acid will convert into acetate ions.

pKa is the negative logarithm of the Ka of the acid. pKa is the pH of the acid  where the concentration of the weak acid as well as the conjugate base is in equimolar concentration.
