The spring starts out 22 cm long with nothing hanging on it.

Hanging 35 newtons of weight on it stretches the spring 1 meter.

Ellen is going to hang 250 grams of mass on the spring.
What's the weight of 250 grams of mass ?

   Weight = (mass) x (acceleration of gravity in the place where the mass is) .

On Earth, the acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s² .
250 grams is 0.25 of a kilogram.

Weight of 250 grams  =  (0.25 kilogram) x (9.8 m/s²)

                                 =    (0.25 x 9.8)  kg-m/s²

                                 =        2.45 newtons .

2.45 newtons of weight is  (2.45 / 35) of 35 newtons,
so it'll stretch the spring  (2.45 / 35) of a meter.

   2.45/35 = 0.07 of a meter  =  7 centimeters.

The spring was 22 cm long with nothing hanging on it,
and the 250-gm weight stretched it 7 cm.
So with the weight hanging on it, it's (22 + 7) = 29 cm long.

What is the wavelength associated with 0.113kg ball traveling with velocity of 43 m/s?
lesya [120]

Answer:

2.73×10¯³⁴ m.

Explanation:

The following data were obtained from the question:

Mass (m) = 0.113 Kg

Velocity (v) = 43 m/s

Wavelength (λ) =?

Next, we shall determine the energy of the ball. This can be obtained as follow:

Mass (m) = 0.113 Kg

Velocity (v) = 43 m/s

Energy (E) =?

E = ½m²

E = ½ × 0.113 × 43²

E = 0.0565 × 1849

E = 104.4685 J

Next, we shall determine the frequency. This can be obtained as follow:

Energy (E) = 104.4685 J

Planck's constant (h) = 6.63×10¯³⁴ Js

Frequency (f) =?

E = hf

104.4685 = 6.63×10¯³⁴ × f

Divide both side by 6.63×10¯³⁴

f = 104.4685 / 6.63×10¯³⁴

f = 15.76×10³⁴ Hz

Finally, we shall determine the wavelength of the ball. This can be obtained as follow:

Velocity (v) = 43 m/s

Frequency (f) = 15.76×10³⁴ Hz

Wavelength (λ) =?

v = λf

43 = λ × 15.76×10³⁴

Divide both side by 15.76×10³⁴

λ = 43 / 15.76×10³⁴

λ = 2.73×10¯³⁴ m

Therefore, the wavelength of the ball is 2.73×10¯³⁴ m.

An electrical heater 100 mm long and 5 mm in diameter is inserted into a hole drilled normal to the surface of a large block of
slega [8]

Answer:

T_{1}=94.9^{o}C

Explanation:

Given data

length=100mm

Diameter=5mm

Thermal conductivity=5 W/m.K

Power=50 W

Temperature=25°C

The temperature of heater surface follows from the rate equation written as:

T_{1}=T_{2}+\frac{q}{kS}

Where S can be estimated from the conduction shape factor for a vertical cylinder in semi infinite medium

S=\frac{2\pi L}{ln(\frac{4L}{D} )} \\

Substitute the given values

S=\frac{2\pi (0.1m)}{ln[\frac{4*0.1m}{0.005m} ]}\\ S=0.143m

The temperature of heater is then:

T_{1}=25^{o}C+\frac{50W}{5W/m.K*0.143m} \\T_{1}=94.9^{o}C

The temperature reached by the heater when dissipating 50 W with the surface of the block at a temperature of 25°C.

                           T_{1}=94.9^{o}C

Compare the momentum of a 6,300-kg elephant walking 0.11 m/s and a 50-kg dolphin swimming 10.4 m/s. your answer
bogdanovich [222]
<span>First sum applied the Newton's second law motion: F = ma Force = mass* acceleration This motion define force as the product of mass times Acceleration (vs.Velocity). Since acceleration is the change in velocity divided by time, force=(mass*velocity)/time such that, (mass*velocity)/time=momentum/time Therefore we get mass*velocity=momentum Momentum=mass*velocity Elephant mass=6300 kg; velocity=0.11 m/s Momentum=6300*0.11 P=693 kg (m/s) Dolphin mass=50 kg; velocity=10.4 m/s Momentum=50*10.4 P=520 kg (m/s) The elephant has more momentum(P) because it is large.</span>
