Carbon has four valence electrons. These electrons are associated for a specific atom and is responsible for forming a bond to different atoms. For carbon, in order to agree with the octet rule, it should have 4 more electrons. For an oxygen atom, there are 6 valence electrons present so it would need two more electrons. Thus, carbon atoms would share electrons with another two oxygen atoms wherein each oxygen atom would form double bonds with the carbon atom. So, the characteristics of these bonds would be that all of the four valence electrons of the carbon are being shared.

A sample of nitrogen gas collected at a pressure of 1.03 atm and a temperature of 279 K is found to occupy a volume of 568 milli
DIA [1.3K]

Answer: 0.025 moles of nitrogen gas are there in the sample.

Explanation:

According to ideal gas equation:

PV=nRT

P = pressure of gas = 1.03 atm

V = Volume of gas = 568 ml = 0.568 L (1L=1000ml)

n = number of moles = ?

R = gas constant =0.0821Latm/Kmol

T =temperature =279K

n=\frac{PV}{RT}

n=\frac{1.03atm\times 0.568L}{0.0821L atm/K mol\times 279K}=0.025moles

0.025 moles of nitrogen gas are there in the sample.

What factor affects the solubility of all solutes, whether solid, liquid, and gaseous? -pressure -temperature -volume -number of
Ratling [72]

Answer:

temperature

Explanation:

 • The solubility is the maximum amount of the substance that will be dissolved in water given the amount of the solvent at a specif temperatures and thus there are factors in which the solubility depends as the temperatures.
 • The temperature affects the solids and liquids and pressure the gases. The solubility of the organic compounds also increases with temperature changes.
