The active ingredient in aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid. A 2.51-g sample of acetylsalicylic acid required 27.36 mL of 0.5106 M
polet [3.4K]

Hey there!

mass of sample = 2.51 g of Aspirin

Number of moles of base ( NaOH ) :

M*V = 27.36*0.5106 = 13.9700 mmol of base

M*V = 13.68*0.516 = 7.05888 mmol of acid

pKa calculation:

pH = pKa + log(A-/HA)

3.48 = pKa + log(7.05888 / (13.9700 -7.05888))

Pka =3.49 - log(7.05888 / (13.9700 -7.05888))

pKa = 3.48

Molar mass calculation:

molar mass = mass/mol

(2.51)/(13.9700 *10⁻³) =

molar mass 180 g/mol approx

Hope that helps!

garik1379 [7]
Hello there!

The correct answer is Ag⁺.

If we look at the solubility rules, it says that most chlorides are soluble, except with Ag⁺, and Pb²⁺.

I hope this helps!

When 1 mole of carbon is burned, carbon dioxide is produced, and 393 kilojoules (kJ) of energy are released. If this reaction is
EleoNora [17]
The energy of 393 kJ is released as heat. Then, the container will experience an increase of temperature and, given that it is sealed, also an increase of pressure.

The increase of temperature results from the heat developed during the reaction.

The increase of pressure results from the fact that that the solid carbon will become gaseuos carbon dioxide. This gas will occupy a larger volume than the solid carbon and also this elevation of the temperature will make the pressure of the gas inside the container increase.
