The two lines start at the same point outside the circle, using the intersecting Secants theorem, When you multiply the two dims for each line together, they are equal

For A:

5 * (5+x) = 6 * (6+4)

25 + 5x = 60

5x = 35

x = 35/5

x = 7

For B:

5 * (5+ 3) = 4 * ( 4+x)

40 = 16 + 4x

4x = 24

x = 24/4

x = 6

Sean has $75 to spend on CDs. If each CD costs $6.98, about how many CDs can he buy?
Daniel [21]
75/6.98=10.744
We would most likely round this down to 10 even though the .7 because if we round up we would go over the budget.
So he can buy about 10 CDs

Your mom's new car gets 32 miles per gallon and gasoline costs $1.99 per gallon. You are going to see Uncle buck for Christmas,
Mashcka [7]

The gas cost will be $19.53 for this trip.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Distance covered by car per gallon = 32 miles

Cost of one gallon = $1.99

Unit rate in terms of miles;

32 miles = $1.99

1 mile = \frac{1.99}{32}\ Dollars

Therefore,

314 miles = Unit rate of mile * 314 miles

314 miles = \frac{1.99}{32}*314

314\ miles = \frac{624.86}{32}\\\\314\ miles=\$19.526

Rounding off to nearest hundredth;

314 miles = $19.53

The gas cost will be $19.53 for this trip.
