Answer: Fentanyl is a polar molecule.

Explanation:

Oxygen being electro-negative will attract electron pairs towards itself and partial positive charge will generate on carbon atom in (C=O) bond.

Due to partial positive charge on carbon atom of (C=O) group will tend to attract electron pairs from its neighboring atoms by which lone pair on nitrogen atom will come in conjugation with (C=O) group which leaves partial positive charge on nitrogen atom.

Now partial positive charge is on the nitrogen atom which will further withdraws the electron density from the phenyl ring attached to it and positive charge will get de-localize at ortho and para positions in phenyl ring.

Hence, making the molecule of fentanyl polar.

Determine the pH of a 2.8 ×10−4 M solution
of Ca(OH)2.
shepuryov [24]

Answer:

pH = 10.75

Explanation:

To solve this problem, we must find the molarity of [OH⁻]. With the molarity we can find the pOH = -log[OH⁻]

Using the equation:

pH = 14 - pOH

We can find the pH of the solution.

The molarity of Ca(OH)₂ is 2.8x10⁻⁴M, as there are 2 moles of OH⁻ in 1 mole of Ca(OH)₂, the molarity of [OH⁻] is 2*2.8x10⁻⁴M = 5.6x10⁻⁴M

pOH is

pOH = -log 5.6x10⁻⁴M

pOH = 3.25

pH = 14-pOH

pH = 10.75

17)
How many grams are in 0.02 moles of beryllium iodide, Bel2?
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

beryllium iodide has a molar mass of 262.821 g mol−1 , which means that 1 mole of beryllium iodide has a mass of 262.821 g . To find the mass of 0.02 moles of beryllium iodide, simply multiply the number of moles by the molar mass in conversion factor form.

During our phase changes lab, where did we place the thermometer?
IrinaK [193]

The thermometer must be in contact with the ice/water only

Explanation:

In this experiment in the lab, the aim is to measure the specific latent heat of fusion of water.

The specific latent heat of fusion of a substance is the amount of heat energy required to completely melt a certain amount of the substance, mathematically:

\lambda = \frac{Q}{m}

where

Q is the heat supplied to the substance

m is the mass of the substance

In this experiment, the aim is to measure the specific latent heat of fusion of water. In order to do that, a mix of ice/water is heated with a certain amount of heat Q, and then it is evaluated the amount of mass m that undergoes melting.

An important precaution that must be taken in this experiment is that the temperature of the water/ice mixture remains constant and equal to the melting point of ice (otherwise, part of the heat supplied to the mixture is used to increase the temperature of the water, resulting in an inaccurate measure of Q). Therefore, a thermometer must be used to check constantly the temperature, and this thermometer must be placed inside the ice/water mixture only (It should not touch the saucepan, whose temperature can be higher).

So, the correct answer is

in contact with the ice/water only

As a form of energy, light has specific properties such as color and brightness. Some properties can only be seen with special t
Sergeu [11.5K]

Answer:

D. As white light passes through a prism , it bends and separates into different colors

Explanation:

When light enters a prism, it experiences a phenomenon called 'refraction'.

Refraction occurs when light crosses the interface between two mediums with different optical density; when this happens, the light bends and also changes speed.

The angle at which the ray of light is refracted into the second medium depends on the optical density of the two mediums, but also on the wavelength of the light.

In particular, longer wavelengths (red color) are refracted the least, while shorter wavelengths (violet color) are refracted the most.

As a result, when white light (consisting of all the colors of visible light) enters into a prism, they different wavelengths are separated: therefore, white light separates into different colors.

So, the correct answer is

D. As white light passes through a prism , it bends and separates into different colors

How much heat is needed to raise the temperature of 55.0 g sample of water by 65.0 oC.
sveticcg [70]

Answer: 14943.5 J

Explanation:

The quantity of heat energy (Q) required to raise the temperature of a substance depends on its Mass (M), specific heat capacity (C) and change in temperature (Φ)

Thus, Q = MCΦ

Given that,

Q = ?

Mass of water = 55.0g

C = 4.18 J/g°C

Φ = 65.0°C

Then, Q = MCΦ

Q = 55.0g x 4.18 J/g°C x 65.0°C

Q = 14943.5 J

Thus, 14943.5 joules of heat is needed to raise the temperature of water.
