Day and night is due to the earth rotating. Seasons are due to the earth rotating on a slightly tilted axis, causing light to be shone on different parts of the earth more directly during different parts of the year. Constellations changing throughout the night are because of the earth moving and rotating. Throughout the year, the earth moves, causing us to be facing different directions in different parts of the year. The North Star does't move because it is close to Earth's line of axis, and therefore does not appear to move.

Leviafan [203]

Answer:

1947 the United States Army had an excess of metallic sodium left over from World War II and determined that the alkaline waters of Lake Lenore would be a good spot to dump and neutralize the acidic element, which reacts with water with intense explosions.

Which pair of atoms has the most polar bond?<br> (1) H−Br <br> (2) H−Cl <br> (3) I−Br<br> (4) I−Cl
S_A_V [24]
For the question given above, option 2 which is H-Cl pair of atoms has the most polar bond among the four of them.

The larger the value of the electronegativity, the greater the atom’s strength to attract a bonding pair of electrons. <span>Hydrogen has an electronegativity of 2.1, and chlorine has an electronegativity of 3.0. The electron pair that is bonding HCl together shifts toward the chlorine atom because it has a larger electronegativity value.</span>

What are you suppose to do for number 8?
Nadya [2.5K]

Answer:

See the images below

Step-by-step explanation:

To draw a dot diagram of an atom, you locate the element in the Periodic Table and figure out how many valence electrons it has. Then you distribute the electrons as dots around the atom,

a. Silicon.

Si is in Group 14, so it has four valence electrons.

b. Xenon

Xenon is in Group 18, so it has eight valence electrons. We group them as four pairs around the xenon atom.

c. Calcium

Calcium is in Group 2, so it has two valence electrons. They are in a single subshell, so we write them as a pair on the calcium atom.

d. Water

Oxygen is in Group 16, so it has six valence electrons. The hydrogen atoms each contribute one electron, so there are eight valence electrons.

Chemists often use a dash to represent a pair of electrons in a bond.

Consider the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide reaction. If the rate of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide at a particular temp
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer:

0.049 mol/L.s

Explanation:

The decomposition of hydrogen peroxide is:

H_2O_2 \to H_2O + \dfrac{1}{2}O_2

Rate = -\dfrac{\Delta [H_2O_2]}{\Delta t}= \dfrac{\Delta [H_2O_2]}{\Delta t}= \dfrac{ 2  \Delta [H_2O_2]}{\Delta t}

The rate of decomposition reaction = the rate of formation of H_2O = 0.098 mol/L.s

∴

Rate of formation of O_2 = \dfrac{ rate \ of \ reaction }{2}

= \dfrac{ 0.098 }{2}

= 0.049 mol/L.s
