A 185 g block is pressed against a spring of force constant 1.60 kN/m until the block compresses the spring 10.0 cm. The spring

rests at the bottom of a ramp inclined at 60.0° to the horizontal. Using energy considerations, determine how far up the incline (in m) the block moves from its initial position before it stops under the following conditions.

Answer:

d = 5.10 m

Explanation:

As we know that here on the plane of the inclined there is no frictional force

So in these cases we can say that total mechanical energy will always remains conserved

so here we can say that

spring potential energy = gravitational potential energy of the block

as we know from the formula

\frac{1}{2}kx^2 = mgh

now plug in the values in it

\frac{1}{2}(1.60 \times 10^3)(0.10)^2 = (0.185)(9.81)h

8 = 1.81 h

h = 4.42 m

now as we know that the angle of inclination is 60 degree and height raised is 4.42 m

so here maximum distance moved along the inclined plane will be

\frac{h}{d} = sin60

d = \frac{h}{sin60}

d = \frac{4.42}{sin60} = 5.10 m

How many coulombs of positive charge are there in 47.0 gm of plutonium, given its atomic mass is 244 and that each plutonium ato
enot [183]

Answer:

  • 1.78×10⁶ C

Explanation:

Using the atomic mass of pluonium atoms (244 g/mol), you can calculate the number of atoms in 47.0 g. Then, knowing that each plutonium atom has 96 protons, you calculate the number of protons in the 47.0 g sample. Finally, using the positive charge of one proton, you calculate the total positive charge in the 47.0 g of plutonium.

<u>1. Number of atoms of plutonium in 47.0 g</u>

  • Number of moles = mass / atomic mass = 47.0 g / 244 = 0.1926 moles

  • Number of atoms = number of moles × 6.022 × 10²³ atoms/mol

  • Number of atoms = 0.1926 mol × 6.022 × 10²³ atoms/mol = 1.15998×10²³ atoms

<u>2. Number of protons</u>

  • Number of protons = 1.15998×10²³ atoms × 96 protons/atom = 1.11385×10²⁵ protons

<u>3. Charge</u>

<u />

  • Charge = charge of one proton × number of protons

  • Charge = 1.602×10⁻¹⁹ C/proton × 1.11385×10²⁵ protons = 1.78×10⁶C

How and why does air pressure change with altitude in the atmosphere?
wlad13 [49]
Pressure with Height: pressure decreases with incrementing altitude. The pressure at any caliber in the atmosphere may be interpreted as the total weight of the air above a unit area at any elevation. At higher elevations, there are fewer air molecules above a given surface than a homogeneous surface at lower calibers.

A psychopathologist records the number of criminal offenses among teenage drug users in a nationwide sample of 1,201 participant
lara [203]

Answer:

Standard deviation = 3

Explanation:

Given

N = 1201

SS = 10800

Required

Determine the standard deviation

First, we need to determine the variance;

Variance = \frac{SS}{N - 1}

This gives:

Variance = \frac{10800}{1201 - 1}

Variance = \frac{10800}{1200}

Variance = 9

Know that:

Variance = SD^2

Where SD represents standard deviation

This gives

9 = SD^2

Take square root

SD = \sqrt 9

SD = 3

2. How have human activities and natural processes influenced the gradual or sudden change in global temperature? (You need a mi
mote1985 [20]

Answer:

Human activities and natural processes have influenced the change in the global temperature by the following processes

1) Green house gas such as carbon dioxide, methane, ozone, nitrous oxide and fluorinated gases produced by the combustion of fossil fuels the use of  industrial chemicals, the production of coal, and natural gas

2) Deforestation which reduces the natural process of conversion of carbon dioxide to oxygen, thereby, increasing the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere

3) The accumulation of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere results in the trapping of heat in the atmosphere, causing the atmospheric temperature to rise

4) Changes in the amount of energy produced by the Sun can result in an increase or decrease in the atmospheric temperature

5) Volcanic activity that occurs at a sufficiently large scale can produce sulfur dioxide that blocks the rays of the Sun from reaching the Earth, resulting in a change of atmospheric temperature.
