Complete the balancing of this equation ; which shows the reaction between iron and carbon :
rewona [7]

The balanced equation is Fe_{2} O_{3}  + 3CO ---> 2Fe + 3CO_{2}

<u>Explanation</u>:

                        Fe_{2} O_{3}  + 3CO ---> 2Fe + 3CO_{2}

  • For solving this first of all you figure out the formula of iron(3)oxide so you look at the periodic table as you said valency of iron is 3 positive because metals are always positive and oxygen’s valency is 2 (negative because non-metal). You criss-cross both you take 2 from oxygen and put it under the iron and then 3 from iron under oxygen.
  • Valency is the number of electrons needed to be a noble gas.   Oxygen has 6 electrons in the outer shell and it needs 2 more to become noble gas.   The total number of electrons needed in every shell is 8 so to figure out valency you subtract the number of electrons in the outer shell from 8. Valency also shows how many electrons you need to share for bonding.

ANSWER FAST!!
belka [17]

Answer: 800 mL of methyl alcohol should be added to 200 ml of water to make this solution.

Explanation:

Volume of the methyl alcohol = x

Volume of water = y = 200 mL

Volume of the solution ,V = x + y

Volume percentage of solution = 80%

x = 800 mL

800 mL of methyl alcohol should be added to 200 ml of water to make this solution.

The energy change ∆H associated with the reaction NBr3(g) + 3 H2O(g) → 3 HOBr(g) + NH3(g) is +81 kJ. NBr3 is arranged with all o
masha68 [24]

Answer:

155 kJ

Explanation:

The energy change will be the energy of the reactants less the energy of the products. And the energy of each compound is the sum of the energy of their bonds. Let's call y the N-Br strength.

3HOBR = 3x(459 + 201) = 1980 kJ

NH₃ = 3x386 = 1158 kJ

3H₂O = 3x(2x459) = 2754 kJ

NBr₃ = 3y

3y + 2754 - 1158 - 1980 = 81

3y -384 = 81

3y = 465

y = 155 kJ

How many grams of lead ii sulfide is produced when 25.0 g lead ii acetate reacts with excess hydrogen sulfide
ddd [48]

Answer: 18.42 grams of lead (II) sulfide will be produced in the given reaction:

Explanation: The reaction of lead (II) acetate and hydrogen sulfide follows:

(CH_3COO)_2Pb+H_2S\rightarrow PbS+2CH_3COOH

To calculate the moles, we use the formula:

Moles=\frac{\text{Given mass}}{\text{Molar mass}}    ....(1)

Molar mass of lead (II) acetate = 325.29 g/mol

Given mass of lead (II) acetate = 25 g

Putting values in above equation, we get:

Moles=\frac{25g}{325.29g/mol}=0.0768moles

We are given that hydrogen sulfide is present in excess, so limiting reagent is lead (II) acetate because it limits the formation of product.

By stoichiometry of the reaction,

1 moles of lead (II) acetate produces 1 mole of lead (II) sulfide

So, 0.0768 moles of lead (II) acetate will produce = \frac{1}{1}\times 0.0768 = 0.0768 moles of lead (II) sulfide.

Now, to calculate the mass of lead (II) sulfide, we use equation 1, we get:

Molar mass of lead (II) sulfide = 239.3 g/mol

0.0768mol=\frac{\text{Given mass}}{239.3g/mol}

\text{Mass of lead (II) sulfide}=18.42g
