Answer:

it's important so sound transmits through vribrating air particles for example earbuds have small speakers but powerful. The wide design helps with the outside noise cancelation and comfort for the ear. <thats for buds (this is for headphones >). Headphones have a little bigger speaker's and the cushions like the bigger earbud designs it noise cancels and give better comfort.

P.S headphones aren't that comfortable after long periods of time
