Answer: The balanced chemical equation for the reaction of phosphorus trichloride with water is written below.

Explanation:

A balanced chemical equation is defined as the equation in which total number of individual atoms on the reactant side is equal to the total number of individual atoms on product side.

The balanced chemical equation for the reaction of phosphorus trichloride with water follows:

PCl_3(l)+3H_2O(l)\rightarrow H_3PO_3(aq.)+3HCl(aq.)

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

1 mole of liquid phosphorus trichloride reacts with 3 moles of water to produce 1 mole of aqueous phosphorus acid and 3 moles of aqueous hydrochloric acid.

Hence, the balanced chemical equation for the reaction of phosphorus trichloride with water is written above.

Hey there!:

I'll balance it:

PCl3 + H2O ---> H3PO3 + HCl

* PCl3 (l )+ 3 H2O (l)--->H3PO3(aq) +3 HCl(aq)

Hope that helps!

Why is water clarity an important measure of water quality?
Neko [114]
Water clarity is important in water habitats. The amount of sunlight that reaches underwater plants depends on water clarity. The plants will die if they cannot get enough sunlight, and we need the water to be clean and clear so the sunlight reaches the plants. Hope that helps :)

A photon has a wavelength of 6.2 meters. Calculate the energy of the photon in joules. (Planck's constant is 6.626 × 10-34 joule
enyata [817]
Energy of photon = hc/λ = \frac{6.626*10 ^{-34}*2.998*10 ^{8}}{6.2} = 3.204*10 ^{-26} J. Hope this helps you!

How does calcium and potassium react differently with water and why
tester [92]
Calcium with water:
When a metal reacts with water( cold water or hot water) then the products formed are metal hydroxide and hydrogen gas.

Metal + steam --------> Metal hydroxide + Hydrogen

Calcium reacts with cold water to form calcium hydroxide and hydrogen gas:

potassium with water.

Potassium reacts violently with cold water to form potassium hydroxide and hydrogen gas:

2K(s)+ 2H2O(l) --------> 2KOH(aq) + H2(g) + heat.
In this reaction so much heat is produced get hydrogen gas formed catches fire and burns explosively.

a 200 mL aqueous solution of ammonia has a concentration of 1.50 M. What mass of ammonia is dissolved in the solution?
sukhopar [10]

Answer: 51 grams

Explanation:

Ammonia is a gas with a chemical formula of NH3.

Given that,

Amount of moles of NH3 (n) = ?

Volume of NH3 (v) = 200mL

since the standard unit of volume is liters, convert 200mL to liters

(If 1000mL = 1L

200mL = 200/1000 = 0.2L)

Concentration of NH3 (c) = 1.5M

Since concentration (c) is obtained by dividing the amount of solute dissolved by the volume of solvent, hence

c = n / v

Make n the subject formula

n = c x v

n = 1.50M x 0.2L

n = 3 moles

Now, calculate the mass of ammonia

Amount of moles of NH3 (n) = 3

Mass of NH3 in grams = ?

For molar mass of NH3, use the atomic masses:

N = 14g; H = 1g

NH3 = 14g + (1g x 3)

= 14g + 3g

= 17g/mol

Since, n = mass in grams / molar mass

3 moles = m / 17g/mol

m = 3 moles x 17g/mol

m = 51 grams

Thus, 51 grams of ammonia was dissolved in the solution.
