Given SiO2 + 4HF --> SiF4 +2H2O

Chemistry

4 0

Answer:

=242.47 g of HF

Explanation:

From the equation One mole of SiO₂ (Silicon (IV) Oxide) react with 4 moles of HF (Hydrogen fluoride).

This is because the reaction ratio is 1:4

The number of moles in182 grams of SiO₂ is:

Number of moles= Mass/RMM

RMM of SiO₂ is 60.08 g/mol

No. of moles=182g/60.08g/mol

=3.0293 moles.

The reaction ratio of SiO₂ to HF is 1:4

Thus the number of moles of HF required to react with  3.0293 moles of SiO₂ is:

(4×3.0293)/1= 12.1172 moles

The mass of 12.1172 moles of HF is.

12.1172 moles× RMM of HF

=12.1172 moles×20.01 g/mol

=242.47 g of HF

Potassium hydroxide is classified as an arrhenius base because koh contains
mixas84 [53]

Answer: hydroxide ions

Explanation:

According to the Arrhenius concept, an acid is a substance that ionizes in the water to give hydronium ion or hydrogen ion  and a bases is a substance that ionizes in the water to give hydroxide ion .

According to the Bronsted Lowry conjugate acid-base theory, an acid is defined as a substance which donates protons and a base is defined as a substance which accepts protons.

According to the Lewis concept, an acid is defined as a substance that accepts electron pairs and base is defined as a substance which donates electron pairs.

As KOH can give hydroxide ions on dissociation , it is considered as arrhenius base.

Determine the percent composition by mass of a 100g salt solution which contains 20g salt
prisoha [69]

Answer:

Mass of solution=100g

mass of salt=20g

so; mass of solute=80g

percentage composition =(mass of salt/total

mass) ×100

=  \frac{20}{100}  \times 100 \\  = 20\%
