For a steel alloy it has been determined that a carburizing heat treatment of 11-h duration will raise the carbon concentration

to 0.38 wt% at a point 2.3 mm from the surface. Estimate the time (in h) necessary to achieve the same concentration at a 5.3 mm position for an identical steel and at the same carburizing temperature.

Answer:

Time =t2=58.4 h

Explanation:

Since temperature is the same hence using condition

x^2/Dt=constant

where t is the time as temperature so D also remains constant

hence

x^2/t=constant

2.3^2/11=5.3^2/t2

time=t^2=58.4 h

Urgent please help!<br> What are non-ferrous metal and ferrous metal?
m_a_m_a [10]
In metallurgy, non-ferrous metals are metals or alloys that do not contain iron in appreciable amounts. Generally more costly than ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals are used because of desirable properties such as low weight, higher conductivity, non-magnetic property or resistance to corrosion

Sketch T-s and p-v diagrams for the Diesel cycle.
labwork [276]

Answer:

Diesel cycle:

    All diesel engine works on diesel cycle.It have four processes .These four processes are as follows

1-2.Reversible adiabatic compression

2-3.Heat addition at constant pressure

3-4.Reversible adiabatic expansion

4-1.Heat addition at constant volume

When air inters in the piston cylinder after that it compresses and gets heated due to compression after that heat addition take place at constant pressure after that power is produces when piston moves to bottom dead center.

From the diagram of P-v And T-s we can understand so easily.

An aircraft is flying at 300 mph true airspeed has a 50 mph tailwind. What is its ground speed?
Free_Kalibri [48]

Answer:

304.13 mph

Explanation:

Data provided in the question :

The Speed of the flying aircraft = 300 mph

Tailwind of the true airspeed = 50 mph

Now,

The ground speed will be calculated as:

ground speed = \sqrt{300^2+50^2}

or

The ground speed = \sqrt{92500}

or

The ground speed = 304.13 mph

Hence, the ground speed is 304.13 mph
