Answer : The atomic mass of chlorine is, 36.723 amu

Explanation :

Average atomic mass of an element is defined as the sum of masses of each isotope each multiplied by their natural fractional abundance.

Formula used to calculate average atomic mass follows:

\text{Average atomic mass }=\sum_{i=1}^n\text{(Atomic mass of an isotopes)}_i\times \text{(Fractional abundance})_i

As we are given that,

Mass of 35-Cl isotope = 35 amu

Percentage abundance of 35-Cl isotope = 13.85 %

Fractional abundance of 35-Cl isotope = 0.1385

Mass of 37-Cl isotope = 37 amu

Percentage abundance of 37-Cl isotope = 86.15 %

Fractional abundance of 37-Cl isotope = 0.8615

Now put all the given values in above formula, we get:

\text{Average atomic mass }=[(35\times 0.1385)+(37\times 0.8615)]

\text{Average atomic mass }=36.723amu

Therefore, the atomic mass of chlorine is, 36.723 amu

Construct a three-step synthesis of 1,2-epoxycyclopentane from cyclopentanol by dragging the appropriate formulas into the bins.
zubka84 [21]

Answer:

(1) Bromination, (2) E2 elimination and (3) epoxidation

Explanation:

  • In the first step, -OH group in cyclopentanol is replaced by more facile leaving group Br by treating cyclopentanol with PBr_{3}
  • In the second step, E2 elimination in presence of strong base e.g. NaOEt/EtOH produce cyclopentene
  • In the third step, treatment of cyclopentene with mCPBA produces 1,2-epoxycyclopentane

A mutation produces a bright Orange moth in the population of green moths. The moths live ia a green forest would this mutation
Mamont248 [21]
No it will not be passed on. As the question states the moths live in a green forest so the green moths have camouflage, which is a big advantage. But the orange moth doesn’t and will very easily be spotted by predators(will die very soon probably before reaching its reproductive period) thus the mutation wont be passed on.

Hope this helps:)

What is the period number in which helium is found
julsineya [31]

Answer:

Helium is the second element on the periodic table. It is located in period 1 and group 18 or 8A on the righthand side of the table. This group contains the noble gases, which are the most chemically inert elements on the periodic table. Each He atom has two protons and usually two neutrons and two electrons.

what volume of co2 is produced at stp when 270g of glucose are consumed in the following reaction? c6h12o6 + 6o2(g) -> 6co2 (
lana [24]

Answer:

202 L

Explanation:

Step 1: Write the balanced equation

C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6 O₂(g) ⇒ 6 CO₂(g) + 6 H₂O(l)

Step 2: Calculate the moles corresponding to 270 g of C₆H₁₂O₆

The molar mass of C₆H₁₂O₆ is 180.16 g/mol.

270 g × 1 mol/180.16 g = 1.50 mol

Step 3: Calculate the moles of CO₂ generated from 1.50 moles of glucose

The molar ratio of C₆H₁₂O₆ to CO₂ is 1:6. The moles of CO₂ formed are 6/1 × 1.50 mol = 9.00 mol

Step 4: Calculate the volume of 9.00 moles of CO₂ at STP

The volume of 1 mole of an ideal gas at STP is 22.4 L.

9.00 mol × 22.4 L/mol = 202 L
