The composition of the various elements are:

Pd = 47.40% = 47.40 g

O = 28.50 % = 28.5 g

C = 21.40 % = 21.40 g

H = 2.69 % = 2.69 g

Atomic mass of Pd = 106 g/mol

Atomic mass of O = 16 g/mol

Atomic mass of C = 12 g/mol

Atomic mass of H = 1 g/mol

# moles of Pd = 47.40 g/106 gmol-1 = 0.4472 moles

# moles of O = 28.5/16 = 1.781

# moles of C = 21.40/12 = 1.783

# moles of H = 2.69/1 = 2.69

Divide by the smallest # moles

Pd = 0.4472/0.4472 = 1

O = 1.781/0.4472 = 3.98 = 4

C = 1.783/0.4472 = 3.98 = 4

H = 2.69/0.4472 = 6

Empirical formula = Pd(O2C2H3)2

therefore, the probable molecular formula is Pd(O2C2H3)2

WILL RECIEVE MEDAL!If 1.2 kilograms of rust form on a bridge in five days, what should be the rate of reaction in grams per hour
serious [3.7K]
Since the answer is in grams, kilograms must first be converted to grams. A kilogram is equivalent to 1000 grams. Therefore, multiply 1.2 kilograms by 1000 and you get 1,200 grams. Then, calculate the number of hours in 5 days. Each day is 24 hours and 24 hours multiplied by 5 days equals 120 hours. Lastly, since the answer is in grams per hour, divide 1,200 grams by 120 hours and the resultant rate of reaction is 10 g/hr.

Homogeneous mixture that does not settle out upon standing reflect light is an element. solid. hydrated.
andrey2020 [161]
Homogeneous mixture that does not settle out upon standing but which will reflect light is called COLLOIDS.
There are three types of homogeneous mixtures, these are: solutions, colloids and suspension. Colloids are usually distinguished by Tyndall effects. Light passing through a colloidal dispersion will be reflected.

What are the empirical formula and empirical formula mass for C10H30O10?
AysviL [449]

Answer:

Empirical formula: CH₃O

Empirical formula mass = 31 g/mol

Explanation:

Data Given:

Molecular Formula = C₁₀H₃₀O₁₀

Empirical Formula = ?

Empirical Formula mass =

Solution

Empirical Formula:

Empirical formula is the simplest ration of atoms in the molecule but not all numbers of atoms in a compound.

So,

The ratio of the molecular formula should be divided by whole number to get the simplest ratio of molecule

As

C₁₀H₃₀O₁₀ Consist of 10 Carbon (C) atoms, 30 Hydrogen (H) atoms, and 10 Oxygen (O) atoms.

Now

Look at the ratio of these three atoms in the compound

                         C : H : O

                        10 : 30 : 10

Divide the ratio by two to get simplest ratio

                          C      :   H      :    O

                         10/10 : 30/10 : 10/10

                             1 : 3 : 1

So for the empirical formula the simplest ratio of carbon to hydrogen to oxygen is 1:3:1

So the empirical formula will be

                     Empirical formula of C₁₀H₃₀O₁₀ = CH₃O

Now

To find the empirical formula mass in g/mol

Formula mass:

Formula mass is the total sum of the atomic masses of all the atoms present in a formula unit.

**Note:

if we represent the molar mass of the empirical formula for one mol in grams then it is written as g/mol

So,

As the empirical formula of C₁₀H₃₀O₁₀ is CH₃O

Then Its empirical formula mass will be

CH₃O

Atomic Mass of C = 12

Atomic Mass of H = 3

Atomic Mass of O = 16

Total Molar mass of CH₃O

CH₃O = 12 + 3(1) + 16

CH₃O = 12 + 3 + 16

CH₃O = 31 g/mol
