No, that's silly.

You've got your Pfund series where electrons fall down to the 5th level,
your Brackett series where they fall to the 4th level, and your Paschen
series where they fall to the 3rd level. All of those transitions ploop out
photons at Infrared wavelengths.

THEN next you get your Balmer series, where the electrons fall in
to the 2nd level. Most of those are at visible wavelengths, but even
a few of the Balmer transitions are in the Ultraviolet.

And then there's the Lyman series, where electrons fall all the way
down to the #1 level. Those are ALL in the ultraviolet.

Which statement best describes the energy of activation?
Varvara68 [4.7K]

hi <3

i believe the answer would be D, as when the temperature increases the particles have more energy and can overcome the activation energy more rapidly.

hope this helps :)

When you drink cold water, your body must expend metabolic energy in order to maintain normal body temperature (37° C) by warmin
Andre45 [30]

Answer:

V=12.1622\ L

Explanation:

Given:

 • Initial temperature of water, T_i=0^{\circ}C
 • final temperature of water, T_f=37^{\circ}C
 • energy spent in one hour of walk, Q=450\ kcal=450\times4186=1883700\ J
 • volumetric capacity of stomach, V=1\ L

Now, let m be the mass of water at zero degree Celsius to be drank to spend 450 kilo-calories of energy.

We know:

Q=m.c.\Delta T .....................................(1)

where:

m = mass of water

Q = heat energy

\Delta T= temperature difference

c=4186\ J.kg^{-1}.K^{-1} = specific heat capacity of water

Putting values in the eq. (1):

1883700=m\times 4186\times 37

m=12.1622\ kg

Since water has a density of 1 kilogram per liter, therefore the volume of water will be:

V=12.1622\ L

How should the student change the circuit to give negative values for current and
natulia [17]

Answer:

changing the polarity or direction of the battery changes the sign of the voltage and the current

Explanation:

The sign of current and voltage are due to established conventions.

The way that a DC circuit with negative current values is by changing the polarity of the power source or by inverting the battery, this creates that the electrons move in the opposite direction

Changing the battery also changes the direction of the power difference, since the potential from positive to negative, in most cases negative is assigned a potential of zero volts

In summary, changing the polarity or direction of the battery changes the sign of the voltage and the current
