a) Answer:

= 225 mL

Explanation:

Using Boyle's law of gases;

The volume of a fixed mass of a gas is inversely proportional to its pressure at constant temperature.

Therefore;

P1V1 = P2V2

in this case; let the initial pressure be P;

Therefore; V1 = 450 mL, P1 = P, V2 = ? and P2 = 2P

Thus;

V2 = P1V1/P2

     = (P×450)/ (2P)

     = 225 mL

Therefore, the new volume will be 225 mL

b) Answer;

=1800 mL

Explanation;

Let the initial pressure be P;

Therefore; V1 = 450 mL, P1 = P, V2 = ? and P2 = 1/4P

Thus;

V2 = P1V1/P2

     = (P×450)/(0.25P)

      = 1800 mL

Thus, when the pressure is reduced to one-fourth of its original, the new volume will be 1800 mL.

Which one of the following descriptions relating to nuclear reactions is correct?
monitta

Answer: option D - The total number of nucleons changes.

Explanation:

Nuclear Reaction is best described as a process such as the fission of an atomic nucleus, or the fusion of one or more atomic nuclei and / or subatomic particles in which the NUMBER of PROTONS and / or NEUTRONS in a nucleus CHANGES; the reaction products may contain a different element or a different isotope of the same element.

Note that the NUCLEONS refers to ONE of the subatomic particles of the atomic nucleus, i.e. a PROTON or a NEUTRON.

So, in a Nuclear reaction, the total number of nucleons changes.

A sample of salt (sodium chloride) is placed on the tip of a platinum wire. When the sample is heated on blue flame the flame tu
gulaghasi [49]
So platinum is a transition metal. In general transition metals are reducers, which means they can give the electrons they have, to the sodium atoms. Also in chemistry we look at sub orbitals rather that shells(2,8,8). So due to the energy from heat, the d orbital split as electrons move to a higher energy level. Some of the electrons are given to the sodium ions and therefore the flame changes colour to yellow.
The excitation of the electrons is caused by them getting energy and so moving up an energy level. This energy is released and the electron returns to it's original state. The energy released, however, does not release in the same direction, but in different/various directions. Therefore the colour of the light changes as some energy is released in the surrounding.

An amino acid is usually more soluble in aqueous solvent at pH extremes than it is at a pH near the isolelectric point of the am
gogolik [260]

Answer:

Option B. At pH extremes, the amino acid molecules mostly carry a net charge, thus increasing their solubility in polar solvent.

C. At very low or very high pH, the amino acid molecules have increased charge, thus form more salt bonds with water solvent molecules.
