jack wants to find out which laundry detergent cleans the best ( Gain, Tide, or Purex). So, he takes a cotton sheet and cuts it

up into equal squares. He stains four squares with chocolate, and four with grape juice. He washes one of each of the squares in each of the 3 detergents. One from each set of squares is washed in water alone. For each wash load, he used: the same amount of water, the same amount of detergent, and the same temperature of water. Find the independent variable, dependent variable, control (constants) and write a hypothesis for the outcome.

Answer:

A scientific experiment should contain three variables:

1 Dependent variable: the variable which has to be studied in the experiment.

2 Independent variable: the variable which can be manipulated or gets changed in the experiment.

3. Control variable: the variable which is kept constant or the same throughout the experiment.

In the given question.

1. Independent variable is the type of laundry reagent.

2. Dependent variable- the clean cloth after washing.

3. Control variable- the amount of water, the temperature of the water and the amount of detergent.

the independent variables are the different laudry detergent

the dependent variable is color of the cloth after washing

the control variables are the amount of water added and by washing one cloth b just water

hypothesis: the cloth washed with laundry detergent is cleaner than the cloth that is just washed by water.

Water is boiled at 1 atm pressure in a 25-cm-internal- diameter stainless steel pan on an electric range. if it is observed that
patriot [66]
3933 watts At 100 C (boiling point of water), it's density is 0.9584 g/cm^3. The volume of water lost is pi * 12.5^2 * 10 = 4908.738521 cm^3 The mass of water boiled off is 4908.738521 * 0.9584 = 4704.534999 grams. Rounding to 4 significant figures gives me 4705 grams of water. The heat of vaporization for water is 2257 J/g. So the total energy applied is 2257 J/g * 4705 g = 10619185 J Now we need to divide that by how many seconds we've spent boiling water. That would be 45 * 60 = 2700 seconds. Finally, the rate of heat transfer in Joules per second will be the total number of joules divided by the total number of seconds. So 10619185 J / 2700 s = 3933 J/s = 3933 (kg m^2/s^2)/s = 3933 (kg m^2/s^3) = 3933 watts

A 1.0 kg copper rod rests on two horizontal rails 1.0 m apart and carries a current of 50 A from one rail to the other.
vagabundo [1.1K]

Answer

given,

mass of copper rod = 1 kg

horizontal rails = 1 m

Current (I) = 50 A

coefficient of static friction = 0.6

magnetic force acting on a current carrying wire is

           F = B i L

Rod is not necessarily vertical

F_x =i L B_d

F_y= i L B_w

the normal reaction N = mg-F y

static friction       f = μ_s (mg-F y )

horizontal acceleration is zero

F_x-f = 0

iLBd = \mu_s(mg-F_y )

B_w = B sinθ

B_d = B cosθ

iLB cosθ= μ_s (mg- iLB sinθ)

B = \dfrac{\mu_smg}{i(cos\theta +\mu_s sin\theta)}

\theta =tan{-1}{\mu_s}

\theta =tan{-1}{0.6}

\theta = 31^0

B = \dfrac{0.6\times 1 \times 9.8}{50(cos31^0 +0.6 sin31^0)}

       B = 0.1 T
