How much light bends depends on the speed of the light and the nature of the medium through which it travels

As ray of light travels from one medium to another, the ray of light bends either towards the normal or away from the normal. This change in the direction of light is due to the speed of the light and the nature of the medium through which the light travels. If the light travels from a less dense medium to a denser medium, the light rays refracts and bends towards the normal but If the light travels from a denser medium to a less dense medium, the light rays refracts and bends away from the normal.
