A room with 3.1-m-high ceilings has a metal plate on the floor with V = 0V and a separate metal plate on the ceiling. A 1.1g gla

ss ball charged to 4.7 nC is shot straight up at 4.8 m/s from the floor level. How high does the ball go if the ceiling voltage is +3.0x10^6V?

Answer:

The ball traveled 0.827 m

Explanation:

Given;

distance between the metal plates of the room, d = 3.1 m

mass of the glass, m = 1.1g

charge on the glass, q = 4.7 nC

speed of the glass ball, v = 4.8 m/s

voltage of the ceiling, V = +3.0 x 10⁶ V

The repulsive force experienced by the ball when shot to the ceiling with positive voltage, can be calculated using Coulomb's law;

F = qV/d

|F| = (4.7 x 10⁻⁹ x 3 x  10⁶) / (3.1)

|F| = 4.548 x 10⁻³ N

F = - 4.548 x 10⁻³ N

The net horizontal force experienced by this ball is;

F_{net} = F_c - mg\\\\F_{net} = -4.548 *10^{-3} - (1.1*10^{-3} * 9.8)\\\\F_{net} = -15.328*10^{-3} \ N

The work done between the ends of the plate is equal to product of the  magnitude of net force on the ball and the distance traveled by the ball.

W = F_{net} *h\\\\W = 15.328 *10^{-3} *  h

W = K.E

15.328*10^{-3} *h = \frac{1}{2}mv^2\\\\ 15.328*10^{-3} *h = \frac{1}{2}(1.1*10^{-3})(4.8)^2\\\\ 15.328*10^{-3} *h =0.0127\\\\h = \frac{0.0127}{15.328*10^{-3}}\\\\ h = 0.827 \ m

Therefore, the ball traveled 0.827 m

Endocrine system immune response
Leviafan [203]
Id say this is more of a biology question or even a psychology question  , well its not a question at all but the endocrine system is a collection of glands that secrete hormones direct to the blood system (circulatory system) to be sent to the desired / target organ , an example of a gland could be the pituitary gland (located towards rear of brain)

If the Sun and volcanoes were controlling the climate, the climate would
Harman [31]

Answer:

<em>Undergo global warming at a faster rate than what we are seeing currently</em>

Explanation:

Climate can be described as the average weather of a place. The climate of a particular place can be described after looking at the temperature of the place for a year or more.

If factors, such as the Sun and volcanoes controlled climates then there would be an increase in the temperature and more global warming. Volcanoes can be described as heat erupting from mountains which will, of course, lead to global warming.

if the user exerts a 14 n force on the upper handle, estimate the force on the clove. express your answer with the appropriate u
Marizza181 [45]

The force on the clove will have the same magnitude but a negative sign with it that is F = - 14 N

<h3>What is force and how do we calculate it ?</h3>

The definition of force is: The pushing or pulling on a massed object changes its velocity. Force is an external agent that has the power to alter a body's resting or moving condition.

It has a size and a movement.

Newton's second law of motion defines the force formula as follows:

A force is equal to an object's mass times its acceleration, or F = m a. You must use SI units when applying this formula: kilograms for mass, meters per second squared for acceleration, and newtons for force.

Work is done on a locked door that remains closed while you try to pull it open. True False.
dsp73

Answer:False

Explanation:

Work is being done on a body when it causes displacement of body on the application of force

Work\ done=Force\times displacement

When we pull the door by a force it causes zero displacements of the door. So we can say that work done on it is zero.

Thus the above-given statement is false
