A 0.200-kilogram ball A is traveling at a velocity of 2 meters/second. It hits a 1-kilogram stationary ball B. Which statement i

s true of the motion of the balls if the collision is elastic? A. The balls separate but move in the same direction. B. The balls stick to each other and move in the initial direction together. C. Ball B moves and ball A stops. D. The balls separate and move in opposite directions.

As we know that collision is elastic  so we will have

e = 1 = \frac{v_2 - v_1}{2 - 0}

v_2 - v_1 = 2 m/s

also we can use momentum conservation

P_{1i} + P_{2i} = P_{1f} + P_{2f}

0.200(2m/s) + 0 = 0.200 v_1 + 1v_2

0.4 = 0.2v_1 + v_2

now from above two equations we will have

1.2 v_1 = -1.6

v_1 = -1.33 m/s

also we have

v_2 = 0.66 m/s

so both balls will separate after collision and move in opposite direction as the final velocities are opposite in sign

So correct answer will be

<em>D. The balls separate and move in opposite directions.</em>

Harry and Hagrid needed to get money out of Gringotts bank. The bank cart was accelerating at a rate of 4 m/s2 and it had a mass
Nutka1998 [239]

a = acceleration of the bank cart = 4 m/s²

m = mass of the bank cart = 8000 kg

F = net force on the cart

According to newton's second law , Net force is the product of mass of the object and the acceleration of the object.

Net force = mass x net acceleration

hence Net force acting on the cart is given as

F = ma

F = 8000 x 4

F = 32000 N

hence the net force acting on the cart comes out to be 32000 N

How high up is a 3 kg object that has 300 joules of energy
kvasek [131]

Answer:

Height, h = 10.20 meters

Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of the object, m = 3 kg

Energy of object, E = 300 J

Let it will moved to a height of h. The energy possessed by it is called gravitational potential energy. It is given by :

E=mgh

h=\dfrac{E}{mg}

h=\dfrac{300\ J}{3\ kg\times 9.8\ m/s^2}

h = 10.20 meters

So, the object will move to height of 10.20 meters. Hence, this is the required solution.

A block is sliding down an inclined plane that makes an angle of 65o with the horizontal. If the coefficient of kinetic friction
Nezavi [6.7K]

Answer:

8.2 m/s²

Explanation:

m = mass of the block

μ = Coefficient of kinetic friction = 0.17

F_{n} = Normal force on the block by the ramp

f_{k} = kinetic frictional force

Force equation perpendicular to ramp surface is given as

F_{n} = mg Cos65

Kinetic frictional force is given as

f_{k} = \mu F_{n}

f_{k} = \mu mg Cos65

Force equation parallel to ramp surface is given as

mg Sin65 - f_{k} = ma

mg Sin65 - \mu mg Cos65 = ma

g Sin65 - \mu g Cos65 = a

(9.8) Sin65 - (0.17) (9.8) Cos65 = a

a = 8.2 m/s²
