Length

The metric unit used to measure length in International System (SI) is meter and it is represented by letter m.

Length can be measured by a metric scale.

Mass

The metric unit used to measure Mass in International System (SI) is Kilograms and it is represented by letter Kg.

Mass can be measured by an instrument called Balance.

Volume

The metric unit used to measure Volume in International System (SI) is Liter and it is represented by letter l.

Volume can be measured by a container called graduated cylinder.

Temperature

The metric unit used to measure Temperature in International System (SI) is Kelvin and it is represented by letter K.

Temprature is measured by most common divice called thermometer.

On the surface of the earth the weight of an object is 200 lb. Determine the height of the
siniylev [52]

Answer:

The height of the  object is 5007.4 miles.

Explanation:

Given that,

Weight of object = 200 lb

We need to calculate the value of Gmm_{e}

Using formula of gravitational force

F=\dfrac{Gmm_{e}}{r^2}

Put the value into the formula

200=\dfrac{Gmm_{e}}{(3958.756)^2}

200\times(3958.756)^2=Gmm_{e}

Gmm_{e}=3.134\times10^{9}

We need to calculate the height of the  object

Using formula of gravitational force

F=\dfrac{Gmm_{e}}{r^2}

Put the value into the formula

125=\dfrac{200\times(3958.756)^2}{r^2}

r^2=\dfrac{200\times(3958.756)^2}{125}

r^2=25074798.5

r=\sqrt{25074798.5}

r=5007.4\ miles

Hence. The height of the  object is 5007.4 miles.

A railroad car with a mass of 30,000 kg is moving at 2.0 m/s when it runs into an at-rest freight car with an equal mass. The ca

The total momentum of the system is preserved through the collision.

Note that momentum is
P = m*v
where m = mass
v = velocity.

Initial momentum:
P1 = (30000 kg)*(2 m/s) = 60000 (kg-m)/s for the moving car
P2 = 0 for the starionary car.

Final momentum:
P3 = (30000 + 30000)*v = 60000v (kg-m)/s

Because momentum is preserved,
P3 = P1 + P2
60000v = 60000
v = 1 m/s
The final velocity is 1 m/s.
