Answer: 1.2 millimoles will be left after 2250 years

Explanation:

Expression for rate law for first order kinetics is given by:

t=\frac{2.303}{k}\log\frac{a}{a-x}

where,

k = rate constant

t = age of sample

a = let initial amount of the reactant

a - x = amount left after decay process

a) for completion of half life:

Half life is the amount of time taken by a radioactive material to decay to half of its original value.

t_{\frac{1}{2}}=\frac{0.693}{k}

k=\frac{0.693}{5730}=0.00012years^{-1}

b) Amount left after 2250 years

2250=\frac{2.303}{k}\log\frac{1.6}{a-x}

2250=\frac{2.303}{0.00012}\log\frac{1.6}{a-x}

\log\frac{1.6}{a-x}=0.117

\frac{1.6}{a-x}=1.31

{a-x}=\frac{1.6}{1.31}=1.2

Thus 1.2 millimoles will be left after 2250 years

An ancient silver coin has a density of 10.49 g/cm3 at 20°C. If you break the coin that weighs 4.001 in half
Wittaler [7]

The density of each half of the coin is 10.49 g/cm3

In science density is defined as the ratio of mass to volume of an object.

Density is an intrinsic property.It is not affect by the amount of substance present.

This implies that each half of the broken coin must have the same density since it it is an inherent property of every silver material.

The density of each part of the coin therefore is  10.49 g/cm3.

Explain why CaCl2 is likely to have properties similar to those of CaBr2
qaws [65]

Answer:

Because both CaCl2 and CaBr2 both contain elements (Chlorine and Bromine) from the same group (group 7)

Explanation:

Elements are placed into different groups in the periodic table. Elements in the same group are those that have the same number of valence electrons in their outermost shell and as a result will behave similar chemically i.e. will react with other elements in the same manner.

Chlorine and Bromine are two elements belonging to group 7 of the periodic table. They are called HALOGENS and they have seven valence electrons in their outermost shell. Hence, when they form a compound with Calcium, a group two element, these compounds (CaCl2 and CaBr2) will possess similar properties because they have elements that are from the same group (halogen group).
