Answer:

Distance covered by Tara is 9 km.

Displacement of Tara is 6.71 km.

Explanation:

Distance is the total path length covered by a body. Here, the total path length is the sum of all the distances covered in each directions.

So, total distance is given as:

Distance, D=5+3+1=9\ km

Now, displacement only depends on the initial and final position of the body. Let the initial position of Tara be represented by the origin O(0,0) and the final position be represented by 'C' as shown in figure. Let the north direction be positive y axis and east direction be positive x axis.

Then from the figure, the final position 'C' will be at (3,6).

Therefore, using distance formula between two points, we find the displacement as 'OC' which is given as:

OC=\sqrt{(6-0)^2+(3-0)^2}=\sqrt{6^2+3^2}=\sqrt{36+9}=\sqrt{45}=6.71\ km

Therefore, the displacement of Tara is 6.71 km.

Why does the density of a substance remain the same for different amount of the substance
tresset_1 [31]

Think of it this way:
-- Any time you have something that means (some number) PER UNIT,
it doesn't matter how many units there are on the table or in the bucket,
because that amount doesn't change the (number) PER UNIT.

-- If oranges cost $1 PER POUND, it doesn't matter how many pounds
you buy, the whole bagful is still $1 PER POUND.

-- If a certain salad dressing has 40 calories PER Tablespoon, it doesn't
matter whether you eat a drop of it or drink the whole jar.  You still get
40 calories PER Tablespoon.

-- Density means '(mass) PER unit of volume'.  Whether you have a tiny
chip of the substance or a whole truckload of it, there's still the same
amount of mass IN EACH unit of volume.

A wire is stretched between two posts. Another wire is stretched between two posts that are twice as far apart. The tension in t
Margarita [4]

Answer: 996m/s

Explanation:

Formula for calculating velocity of wave in a stretched string is

V = √T/M where;

V is the velocity of wave

T is tension

M is the mass per unit length of the wire(m/L)

Since the second wire is twice as far apart as the first, it will be L2 = 2L1

Let V1 and V2 be the speed of the shorter and longer wire respectively

V1 = √T/M1... 1

V2 = √T/M2... 2

Since V1 = 249m/s, M1 = m/L1 M2 = m/L2 = m/2L1

The equations will now become

249 = √T/(m/L1) ... 3

V2 = √T/(m/2L1)... 4

From 3,

249² = TL1/m...5

From 4,

V2²= 2TL1/m... 6

Dividing equation 5 by 6 we have;

249²/V2² = TL1/m×m/2TL1

{249/V2}² = 1/2

249/V2 = (1/2)²

249/V2 = 1/4

V2 = 249×4

V2 = 996m/s

Therefore the speed of the wave on the longer wire is 996m/s
