Answer:

-12(y-3)=(x+2)^2 , downward

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : (h,k) = vertex location = (-2, 3)

             Focus = (-2, 0)

This the downward parabola because the vertex is above the focus.

y-k= -\frac{1}{4p}(x-h)^2  -----1

where(h,k)is the vertex

p is distance vertex to focus

To Find Distance between focus and vertex we will use distance formula:

d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

(x_1,y_1)=(-2,3)

(x_2,y_2)=(-2,0)

Substitute the values

d=\sqrt{(-2+2)^2+(0-3)^2}

d=\sqrt{3^2}

d=3

So, value of p = 3

Now substitute the values in 1

y-3=\frac{1}{4(3)}(x+2)^2

y-3=\frac{1}{12}(x+2)^2

y-3=-\frac{1}{12}(x+2)^2

-12(y-3)=(x+2)^2

Thus the equation of the parabola is -12(y-3)=(x+2)^2

Thus Option C is correct: -12(y-3)=(x+2)^2 , downward

Refer to the diagram shown below.

The distance, d, from the focus to a point P (x,y) is equal to the distance from the directrix to P.
Therefore
d² = (6 - y)²
     = (x + 2)² + y²
That is,
36 - 12y + y² = (x + 2)² + y²
12y = -(x + 2)² + 36

The equation of the parabola is
y = -(1/12)(x + 2)² + 3
It may be written as
-12(y - 3) = (x + 2)²

The leading coefficient -1/12 is negative, therefore the curve opens downward.

Answer:
The equation is (x + 2)² = -12(y - 3).
The curve opens downward.

Furkat [3]

Answer:

y = -1/2x +2

Step-by-step explanation:

The linear and quadratic function rules we usually study in algebra come in several forms.

For linear function rules (equations of a line), there are more than half a dozen different forms, each with its own use. A few that often come in handy are the 2-point form, the slope-intercept form, the point-slope form, and the intercept form. Here, the 2-point form can be useful, since you have several points on the line to choose from.

The 2-point form of the equation of a line is ...

y = (y2 -y1)/(x2 -x1)·(x -x1) + y1

point (x1, y1) and point (x2, y2) can be any pair of the given points, in any order. Let's use the first two for points 1 and 2.

y = (0 -1)/(4 -2)·(x -2) +1

y = -1/2(x -2) +1 . . . . . . . . this is a suitable function rule. In this simplified form, it is in point-slope form, where -1/2 is the slope and (2, 1) is the point.

If you want to simplify this a bit, you can put it into slope-intercept form by eliminating the parentheses and combining the constant terms:

y = -1/2x +2

∠DFG and ∠JKL are complementary angles. m∠DFG = x + 5, and m∠JKL = x − 3. Find the measure of each angle.
chubhunter [2.5K]

Answer:

A

Step-by-step explanation:

complementary angles are 90 degrees so if we add both angles together we get 90 degrees. the equation is x-3+x+5=90. then we do algebra and so it goes to x-3+x=85 then to x+x=88 then to 2x = 88 then to x = 44. now we just do 44+5=49  44-3=41

The graph of an exponential function shows a geometric increase or decrease using a curve

<h3>Exponential graphs</h3>

Exponential functions are inverse of logarithmic functions. The standard exponential function is expressed as:

y = ab^x

where

a is the base

x is the exponent

The graph of an exponential function shows a geometric increase or decrease using a curve. According to the function given there will a decrease rate due to the value of the rate value given which is less than 1. The graph of the function given is attached below;
